KYRIE ELEISON Plainchant, Mode VI
Dicit Dominus Petro: cum esses iunior, cingebas te,
et ambulabas ubi volebas: cum autem senueris,
extendes manus tuas, et alius te cinget, et ducet quo tu non
vis: hoc autem dixit, significans qua morte
clarificaturus esset Deum. Jn 21:18,19
The Lord said unto Peter: “When you were young, you
girded yourself and walked where you would; but when you
are old, you will stretch forth your hands, and another will
gird you and lead you where you do not wish to go.” This
he said to signify by what death he was to glorify God.
Kyrie eleison.

Señor, ten piedad.
1.) Faith of our fathers, living still
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword,
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whene’er we hear that glorious word!
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
2.) Our fathers, chained in prisons dark,
Were still in heart and conscience free;
And blest would be their children’s fate,
If they, like them should die for thee:
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
3.) Faith of our fathers, Mary’s prayers
Shall win all nations unto thee;
And through the truth that comes from God
Mankind shall then indeed be free.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
4.) Faith of our fathers, we will love
Both friend and foe in all our strife,
And preach thee, too, as love knows how
By kindly words and virtuous life.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!

Their voice has gone forth into all the earth; and their
words unto the ends of the world.

and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands.

MARIAN ANTIPHON Salve Regina (SMH 739) 11th century Latin/Plainchant Mode V
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
Our Life, our Sweetness, and our Hope!
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs,
Mourning and weeping in this vale of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious Advocate,
Thine eyes of mercy towards us;
And after this, our exile, show unto us the
Blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus;
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
