How It Works

SimplyconnectyourHDMIvideosourcetotheHDMIinputjackoftheGefenTVHDMItoCompositeScaler.ConnectyourCompositeorS-VideodisplaycabletothecorrectvideooutputjackontheScaler’srearpanel.RCA-typeanalogaudiooutputjacksandCoaxialS/PDIFdigitalaudiooutputjacksallowfortheconnec-tionofanaudioReceiverorotherdevicetoreceivetheaudiosignalembeddedintheHDMIsignal.Power-cycleallconnectedcomponents.YouwillthenhaveHDMIvideoplayingonyourCompositeorS-Videodisplaywithsimultaneousaudioout.

ThemainpurposefortheGTV-HDMI-2-COMPSVIDistodownscalehighdefini-tiondigitalvideotostandarddefinitionNTSC/PALanalogsignals.

TheGTV-HDMI-2-COMPSVIDdoesnotacceptinputvideoresolutionsof480iand576iduetoalimitationoftheinternalcircuitry.Aworkaroundistoconnectdeviceswiththeseoutputresolutionsdirectlytodisplays.Sourcedevicesoperat-ingatresolutionsof480i/576iwillalmostalwayshaveanalogoutputssuchasComponent,S-VideoorCompositeVideojacks.

How to Connect the HDMI To Composite/S-Video Scaler

1. ConnecttheHDMIsourcetotheHDMIToComposite/S-VideoScaler’sHDMIinputusingthesuppliedHDMIcable.

2. ConnectthedisplaytotheHDMIToComposite/S-VideoScaler’scompositeors-videooutputsusingusersuppliedcables.

3. ConnecttheHDMIToComposite/S-VideoScaler’sstereoanalogaudiooutputtothedisplayoraudioReceiver.Optionally,youcanconnectthedigitalcoaxialoutputtothedisplayoranaudioReceiver.

4. EnsurethatthepropervideooutputformatissetusingtheNTSC/PALformatswitchontherearpaneloftheunit.Pleaseconsultyourtelevision’smanualfortheproperinputformattype.

5. Connecttheincluded5VDCpowersupplytotheHDMIToComposite/S-VideoScaler.

6. Onceyouhaveavideoimageon-screen,usetheunder/overscanswitchtoadjusttheimage’ssize.
