Assignment Details

This course includes the following assignments/projects: Module 3

Critical Thinking: Personal Health Records (75 Points) You are a health information management professional who has been asked to make a presentation to a community group on the topic of personal health records. Discuss how you would structure and present this topic to the community group. Include the topics of how the concept of a personal health record developed, why a patient would want to create and maintain a personal health record, and what that record should contain. Your report should be 2- to 3-pages long (excluding the cover page and reference page), supported by the readings from Module 3 and at least two additional scholarly sources. The CSU-Global Library is a great place to find these sources! Ensure your paper adheres to CSU-Global APA and writing guidelines. Project Overview: (0 points) This week you will submit a short overview of the different roles you have as the Director of Health Information Management at Anywhere Hospital. To determine what you should include in the overview, review the Portfolio Project description on the Week 8 Assignments page. Submit your overview by the end of Week 3. Though you will not receive points in Week 3 for your submission, you will receive feedback from your instructor, and it is a required part of the final project. Failure to submit your overview in Week 3 as assigned will result in a loss of points on your final project.

Module 4 Critical Thinking: Solving Records and Coding Errors (100 Points) You are a quality analyst in a health information management department appointed to lead a project team. Your team must assess the problem with the documentation of the patient’s discharge disposition status in the health record and present your findings in a meeting to the department. An increasing number of errors have been reported, and frustration among the coders has risen. These coders claim that conflicting information is often present in the record, requiring them to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to obtain verification. Coding productivity has been affected. Explain how you would assess the problem, strategies that you may develop to resolve the problem, and a way to study the effectiveness of your strategies. Give examples of tools you would use to present your findings in the meeting. Your report should be 2- to 3-pages long (excluding the cover page and reference page), supported by the readings from Module 4 and at least two additional scholarly sources. The CSU-Global Library is a great place to find these sources! Ensure your paper adheres to CSU-Global APA and writing guidelines. SAMPLE

Your presentation should last no more than 20 minutes and must include discussion of significant areas within this topic. Explain what areas you would include in your presentation and why they are important. Explain what areas you would emphasize and examine why they should be emphasized. Your report should be 2- to 3-pages long (excluding the cover page and reference page), supported by the readings from Module 5 and at least two additional scholarly sources. The CSU-Global Library is a great place to find these sources! Ensure your paper adheres to CSU-Global APA and writing guidelines. Portfolio Project: Outline (0 points) Review the details of the Portfolio Project described in Module 8. This week submit the outline of your Portfolio Project for feedback from your instructor. Submit your outline by the end of Week 5. Many members of the team are from patient care disciplines with limited understanding of the life cycle process involved in IT project management. You have been tasked with educating your fellow team members about the life cycle process in IT project management. Explain the life cycle process, what information you would share with the members of your team and strategies that you could use to share the information. Your report should be 2- to 3-pages long (excluding the cover page and reference page). It should be supported by the readings from Module 6 and at least two additional scholarly sources. The CSU-Global Library is a great place to find these sources! Ensure your paper adheres to CSU-Global APA and writing guidelines.

3. As part of its new employee orientation, the hospital asks each department director to describe to the new employees the services offered by that department and the responsibilities of managers and staff. You have been asked to include as part of your description an explanation of diagnosis-related groups. Describe what you would include in your explanation.
