For towing capacity details please refer to vehicle

owner’s manual or to the manufacturer. Overloading can

void your warranties.

Warning: 1. Do not, drill, cut, weld or otherwise modify the towbar.

2. If you are using electric welding on a motor vehicle, always check that the vehicle is not equipped with electronic

engine or instrument management equipment. Failure to do so could destroy any on board computers. If in doubt, check with the vehicle's manufacturer.

3. If TBM is used in inverted position tow ball may make contact with rear tailgate when lowered, which could cause damage.

General: 1. Ensure all hardware items have been included refer to assembly diagram. 2. It is recommended that the instructions are read through and completely understood before making any

attempt to fit this product. 3. Be wary of any changes to vehicle designs or other accessories that may conflict with the installation of this

product. 4. Before drilling ensure that the area is clear of fuel, electrical & other components. 5. All holes drilled into the body panels shall have all burrs & swarf removed then coated with a suitable rust

preventative paint. 6. The high tensile fasteners supplied with this product were used to achieve the specified rating. If replacement

is required ensure that fasteners of the same rating & quality are used. Contact an authorised Hayman

Reese dealer if further information is required. 7. Ensure that all hardware is fastened to torque list below check fasteners on regular basis. 8. Towbar load rating sticker provided with this product shall be conspicuously located on inside rear end of the

driver's door. (See diagram below). 9. Hayman Reese recommends that you check your tow ball to ensure that it complies with the Australian

standards AS 4177.2.

10. PLEASE NOTE: It is advised to remove your LUG or TBM when not actually towing so as to produce a clear view of the vehicles registration plate if obscured, and to also provide maximum available departure angle.

Tow bar Maintenance and Care. Hayman Reese recommends that bolt torque’s, as listed below, are routinely and regularly inspected and checked for correct tension. Replace any worn or defective parts. We recommended to remove Tow Ball Mounts (TBM’s, tongues or lugs) when not being used for any considerable length of time. So as to avoid injury, when not towing it is suggested that the tongue, Pull Pin and R-clip are removed then stored in a safe, clean and dry place, away from excessive moisture. Hitch Pull Pins and spring “R” clips are regularly checked for proper installation. Replace any worn or defective parts.

1. Open tail gate and remove the LH and RH side covers in the luggage compartment.

2. On the LH side, unclip and remove the safety

triangle container.

3. Remove plastic grommet and unclip cover from

the water channel. Repeat for opposite side.

4. Remove the exposed 2 x nuts securing the

taillight.

Repeat for opposite side

5. In the luggage compartment, remove 1 x nut

securing the side of the tail light.

6. Remove tail light rearwards and disconnect from wiring harness.

Repeat for opposite side.

7. Remove reflector from bumper (push plastic tool

from the side to release clip).

8. Remove 2 x screws located on the bumper and

in the reflector cavity.


9. Remove 8 x screws from the bottom edge of the

bumper.

10. Remove the underside protector secured with 10 x screws.

11. In wheel arch remove (cut off) the 3 x plastic

rivets.

Repeat for opposite side

12. Peel away wheel arch trim to expose 2 x screws.

Remove the screws.


13. Peel the bumper away from the sides and

remove. Ensure to disconnect any plug connections located on the RH side.

14. Remove the plastic sensor holder from the

impact beam secured with 6 x scrivets. Ensure to disconnect the centre plug connection and supporting clip located on the RH side.

15. Remove the exhaust hanger bracket from the

impact beam secured with 1 x nut. Repeat for opposite side.

16. Remove and discard impact beam secured with

2 x M12 nuts per side. Retain the nuts for towbar installation.

Ensure the water ingress seal behind the impact beam remains intact and on the vehicle.

17. Secure the exhaust hanger bracket to the

exhaust hanger plate with 1 x M8 bolt complete with 1 x washer and 1 x flange nut.

Torque fastener to 22Nm.

18. Position towbar onto vehicle and loosely secure

the top mounting studs (LH and RH side) with 1 x M12 Nut (removed step 16) complete with 1 x M12 washer.

19. Position the exhaust hanger bracket assembly

(LH and RH side) onto the bottom mounting stud and loosely secure with 1 x M12 Nut (retained) complete with 1 x M12 washer.

Torque all M12 Nuts to 108Nm.

20. At the rear of the vehicle, access the luggage

compartment and lift up the floor carpet (1).

21. Remove the two twist clips with a flat blade

screwdriver (1).

22. Lift up the tool tray carpet (1) and disconnect the

positive battery terminal (2).

23. Remove the LHS storage bin (1) by pulling from

the top and then lifting up.

Repeat for RHS.

24. Dislodge the LHS D Pillar trim (1) by first

removing the T15 Torx screw (2) and then pulling towards the center line of the vehicle.

Repeat for RHS.

25. Behind the battery, remove the two push clips

(1) and then remove the boot scuff plate (2) by pulling upwards.

26. On the LHS, following the table below, connect

the ezy-tap (1) to the mating tail light harness wire (2). Then connect the trailer patch wire to the correct ezy-tap (3).

27. Route the trailer patch (1) down and across to

the RHS of the vehicle.

28. Connect the earth ring terminal to the battery

negative (1) or other suitable earthing location.

29. Route the trailer patch across to the RHS tail lamp.

Note: The vehicle battery nut is not

designed to be removed. if connecting to

the negative battery terminal, use another

M6 nut.

30. On the RHS, following the table below, connect

the ezy-tap (1) to the mating tail light harness wires (2). Then connect the trailer patch wires to the correct ezy-tap (3).

Note: Test the vehicle wires first to confirm

thefunction.

Note: The first wire specified is the main

colour the second wire is the trace colour.

31. Route the orange power wire (1) towards the

fuse box.

32. Remove the 20Amp vehicle fuse (2).

33. Insert the patch harness fuse and the vehicle fuse (2) into the Add-A-Fuse (3) and connect the Add-A-Fuse harness to the patch harness (1).

34. Insert the Add-A-Fuse (1) to the blank fuse

location in the correct orientation.

Note: To maintain correct electrical

operation, ensure you insert the fuse adaptor

into the allocated slot and in the orientation

shown.

35. Connect the ECU brown black patch to the

Patch harness. 36. Connect the ECU patch harness 12-way

connector (1) to the ECU (2).

37. Secure the ECU in a suitable location using the supplied double sided tape or cable ties (not supplied)

38. Drill a 30mm grommet hole in a suitable location

(1) to enable the tail harness to be routed from the towbar to the ECU via the chassis rail access.

39. Route tail harness (1200mm) (2) up through chassis rail and previously removed vehicle blanking grommet.

40. Seat grommet in 30mm blanking hole and route

to trailer harness blue connector on wiring loom.

41. Connect the tail harness 8-way connector (1) to

the trailer patch mating 8-way connector (2).

42. The RPA function can be disabled via a switch

next to the gear shifter. Test the trailer patch function using a light board or multi-meter.

43. Secure all harnesses using cable ties (not

supplied).

44. Re-fit all removed parts and secure all fasteners, ensuring there are no squeaks or rattles.

45. Place the fitting instructions in the glove box

after fitment.

46. Secure 2 x Bumper tabs onto the inside of the

wiring sensor holder (removed step 14) with 2 x scrivets (retained).

47. Refit the wiring sensor holder to the bumper and

secure with 4 x Screws.

48. Refit the bumper ensuring to reconnect the

centre plug connection and supporting clip of the sensor holder removed in step 14.

49. With the bumper in position secure the LHS and

RHS Bumper tabs to the crosstube with 2 x tek screws (1 per bumper tab).

50. On underside protector, find the centre, mark off

and cut out 90mm x 90mm as depicted.

51. On the underside protector, at an appropriate

position (LH side of the previous cut out), mark out and drill 2x ø5mm holes 69mm apart for the plug bracket.

Cut out a feedthrough slot for the wiring harness.

Fit the plug bracket to the underside protector.

52. Refit all removed components to the vehicle

following steps 12 to 1 in reverse.

Use the supplied plastic rivets to attach the wheel arch trim removed in step 11.

• These �tting instructions are supplied to ensureunderstanding of how the SMART PIN should be �tted andused correctly.

• Once installed, we recommend ALL instructions are kept and placed in the vehicle glove box.

NOTE: Routine maintenance and inspection of the towbar & SMART PIN is required. Regularly inspect for wear and check the tightness of the SMART PIN NUT. Follow instructions below to retighten the nut when necessary.

*Do not tow with your vehicle if the R CLIP or the SMART PINNUT is loose or missing. Replacement parts are available from your Hayman Reese Distributor.

Insert Trailer Ball Mount (TBM) into towbar HITCHBOX, aligning hole in TBM SHANK with hole in HITCHBOX (Fig. 2).

Insert SMART PIN through hole in HITCHBOX and hole in TBM SHANK; ensure the LOCATORS are inserted into the NOTCHES in the HITCHBOX (Fig. 3).

Screw SMART PIN NUT onto SMART PIN; tighten SMART PIN NUT until fingerSTEP 3 tight, ensuring TBM is restrained from movement.

Tighten SMART PIN NUT by turning nut a further 1/8th of a turn in the clockwise direction using a 24mm spanner (Fig 4).

STEP 4

Install SMART PIN R CLIP through the hole on the SMART PIN (Fig. 1). STEP 5
