THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT MARCH 15, 2020
THE VISITATION COLLABORATIVE
FROM THE PASTOR
Lent is such a rich season of reflection for the Body of
Christ. I discover year after year that if we are open to the
practices of Lent, God will change us. I am edified by so
many people who have been generous in giving to Rise
Against Hunger food packing event that we are doing as
on community of believers. The more we give to God and
His mission of gathering all people to Himself, the richer
we are. I am sure that Will and Denise and the teachers
would agree that it was humbling to see how all of the
children who attended religious education went to Confes-
sion and reaffirmed their faith in God’s love. For the past
two weeks, the daily Mass has been well attended. How
strengthening it is for the collaborative and for the univer-
sal Church that so many people are living their day in the
Eucharist.
On a personal level, I have an even greater appreciation
for my family and how they have assisted me in learning
to love and to serve others. This past Saturday I was able
to spend a day with them (my siblings and parents rarely
have the opportunity to get together) and it was a remind-
er to me of the encouragement we need from one anoth-
er to strive for perfect love of God.
There have been a number of events which have hap-
pened this past week; some of which have been moments
of sadness but opportunities to be drawn closer to God. In
particular there were two funerals for parishioners who
had passed away suddenly. I thought of the words of St.
Therese, “The world (this earthly life) is our ship and not
our home.” In this season of Lent, God is inviting us to love
Him and to love others not when we are ready…but to be
always loving Him and others. God will call each of us at
the time when we are most likely to respond ‘yes’ to His
love forever. We know neither the day nor the hour that
will be – so Lent reminds us that loving should be our sole
focus every day.
Lastly, I have been reflecting upon the recent news about the Coronavirus and it is providential that this comes dur-ing Lent.
Hunger doesn’t have to exist — let’s end it together.
Rise Against Hunger operates meal packaging locations in 28 cities throughout the U.S. Since 1998, volunteers in the U.S. and worldwide have packaged about 500 million meals and provided aid in the form of emergency relief, medical supplies, clothing, school supplies and more to people in need. Help our collaborative to raise $5,200 towards feeding the hungry. Be one of our volunteers as we pack over 15,000 meals on March 21st. Call the office or email [email protected].
Visitation Collaborative’s Lenten Almsgiving Initiative
Our Goal: $5,200 Received to Date: $3,900
(75% - 3/4 of the way there!)
Firstly, looking at this we can appreciate the fragility of
human life and how we can take our health for granted.
Our health is not meant to be self-serving but to help us
serve others. Secondly, we can see how important it is
to human life that we gather together. When we have to
stay away from others or are hesitant to be with others,
it leaves us a little more empty. Thirdly, this reminds us
that the house we have, the money we earn, the posses-
sions we own, the status we attain…all of these earthly
things(while good and some of them necessary) are not
as important as the weight we often give to them.
In the midst of all of this, the prayer of St. Ignatius came
to me. It seems to me that this is the act of faith that we
are called to make this Lent…an act that can continue
each and every day:
“Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will, All I have and call my own. You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace, that is enough for me.
In Christ our hope, Fr. Bennett

Have you ever noticed that the busier you get, the harder it is to be a great Christian? It’s hard to be patient. It’s hard to find time to pray. It’s hard to grow in virtue. Saint Benedict figured
this out. He realized his daily routines—especially how he spent his mornings—had ma-jor impacts on his Christian life. We can learn
from him! Receive daily reflections like this one in your inbox by sign-ing up at DynamicCatholic.com. This year’s program is based on Rediscover the Saints by Matthew Kelly. Then, meet up with others on Friday nights for discussion. It is not necessary to read the book or receive the daily emails in order to enjoy the discussions. The evening be-gins at 6:00 PM. Just let us know if you want to be in the supper count.
Let the saints help you to Have Your Best Lent Ever!

St. Elizabeth Weekly Offertory Report St. Mary of the Hills
St. Mary of the Hills Perpetual Candle
Light a candle in memory/honor of someone or for a particular intention. They are a great way of inviting others to pray for your intention and to let others know that they are being prayed for here at St. Mary of the Hills. Another way to use these candles is to have one lit in honor of a recently deceased family member or friend instead of sending flowers. The parish would send out a card letting the family know that their loved one is being re-membered with our candle here at the church.
St. Mary of the Hills Perpetual Candles In memory of: Ellen Carlson and Angel Langlais For healing: Jim Kackley and Benicio Gobourne In honor of: Gloria Finnegan, The Ciampa Family Please remember them in your prayers. To memorialize or honor your own loved ones, there are forms at the candle stand or contact us in the office. Thank you.

COLLABORATIVE MASS INTENTIONS
THE VISITATION COLLABORATIVE
Remember that when you are away, you can find the Collaborative bulletin at:
Www.visitationmilton.org. It will have the most up-to-date information.
My precious and crucified Lord, I offer You this
Lent. I offer it to You with total abandonment and trust. I offer You my prayers, sacrifices and
works of charity.
Keep me faithful to my Lenten promises, and bring forth new life through these sacrifices of love. I pray that this Lent will be fruitful for me
and for all Your faithful.
Do with me, Lord, as You will. I know You have much to say to me and much to do in my life.
Show me the plan You have for me, and place my feet upon the path You have chosen.
Dearest Lord, help me to especially see my sin this Lent. Humble me so that I may see clearly.
Give me courage and strength to confess my sins, and to turn from them with all my heart.
Enlighten me with Your Holy Word, so that I may come to know You and to deepen the gift of faith in my life. In my suffering Lord, I thank You for
the fullness of Your perfect Sacrifice. I thank You for holding nothing back.
May I offer You my very life as a sacrifice,
trusting in Your mercy with every offering.
This weekend, the Catholic Ap-
peal will be launched in all parish-
es throughout the Archdiocese. In
preparation, we invite you to
prayerfully consider making a gen-
erous gift that will benefit both our
parish and the many ministries that serve the 283
parishes, 110 schools, and 144 communities
throughout the Archdiocese. Please take a mo-
ment today to look through the Catholic Appeal
insert to learn more about the meaningful impact
your gift will have. This is our Church, and
when you support the Appeal, you support us.
