What a delight! This cast has been so much fun to work with. The kids are great and the adults are wonderful. Sherry has so enjoyed directing this show. Such a talented cast, and she is so very proud of all of them. The show saw many changes in its short rehearsal run, but they held together like troopers. Sherry enjoys both directing and being onstage. She was last seen as Nurse Kelly in “Harvey”, and has had such roles as Ouiser (“Steel Magnolias”) and Blanche (“Streetcar Named Desire”). She will be taking on a new challenge in September, when she plays Dona Margot in an ALL Spanish speaking production called “Sirena” (thanks Willmer for having faith in her). She and husband Paul will be celebrating 30 years of happy marriage this year, and she has 3 beautiful grown children and 4 adorable rambunctious grandchildren. Sherry recently received 2 nominations for the 2013 Fusion Awards, and has a true passion for theater and is so happy to have the support of such a great community of loving people surrounding her! Please continue to support the arts in any way you can!

Whatever you know about Harry Potter movies and books, throw it out for now! This Spoof is anything but !!

The character names are there, but they are very different from what you know of them. Hogwarts has changed

a lot. The Great Hall is now a cafeteria, the Kitchen Elves run the place and they are wild. Hagrid has lost his “pet

Fluffy”. Professor Snape has a change bigger than anyone. But the big question is : “Who is the Master”? Dobby

and Winky know, but they are so afraid to speak of it.  Everything is changing, and nothing is as it seems for

Harry, Hermione and Ron.  Can Harry find the Master in time, and will his many trips to the future help him in his

quest? Will Hermione use her Time Turner to make it to all of her classes without getting caught? Can Ron finally

get a good sandwich or will he be left eating rotten goat cheese? Will Draco finally get what he wants and be

able to take over Hogwwarts once and for all?  Will the Living Paintings allow access to the rooms they need to

enter to find their answers?  Remember, this is a spoof…a parody…so ANYTHING is possible!! So, get your Train

pass to Hogwarts, don’t be late. Grab your wand, your Bertie Bott’s and watch the hilarity unfold. Watch out

though, Rita Skeeter may be listening and you may end up in the Hogwarts Tabloid if you aren’t careful.

Steve Werner, Marketing Director: Steve was born in the dust bowl of SW Oklahoma and raised by two wonderful parents in his hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. He developed a love for theatre participating in both high school and college productions but never ventured back on stage until he happened upon New Dawn Theater two years ago. Steve brought his mother and son to see a production and instantly became a fan and supporter of New Dawn’s version of community theatre. Steve recently performed in ‘The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial’ and ‘M*A*S*H’ productions at New Dawn and wants to see his son on stage with him one day soon. Steve’s 30 years of business background has been in contracts and financial management for software startups as well as the Federal contracting arena. He passionately believes that, among other things, the arts are what separate us from the lower species and, if we don’t financially support arts in the local community, we will do a great disservice to our children and legacy.

Theresa Kelly, Choreographer: Theresa Kelly is a retired musical theater choreographer and international ballroom dance instructor. Theresa started her dance and theater career in the 1960s, where she trained in classical ballet, tap and jazz with The Huntsville Ballet Company in Huntsville, Alabama, her hometown. As a child, she was a regular on a syndicated children’s’ program, “Romper Room”, and appeared as a guest star on “Captain Kangaroo”. From this came her interest in live theater and she joined a local theater company (Community Chorus). Theresa trained with the Martha Graham Dance Studio (NYC) and The Fred Astaire Dance Studio (NYC). She also trained in voice and studied music. She has been in numerous musicals such as, “Guys an d Dolls”, “The Music Man”, “A Chorus Line”, “Anything Goes, Celebration”, “Crazy for You” and “Plaza Suite”. Theresa made an appearance on the “Merv Griffin Show” and landed a small role in the television series “Dallas”. She also appeared in a medical documentary for the Vanderbilt University Medical School (Nashville, TN). She left New York and moved to Dallas, Texas where she helped open a new Fred Astaire Dance Studio. While living in Dallas, Theresa attended Texas Medical College. She became employed with a local hospital working as a surgical scrub nurse. It was there where she met her husband who was completing h is surgical rotation during his residency. Moving to Atlanta to practice medicine, she got back into theater as a dance choreographer and began working with local heater groups and local high schools. She has choreographed musicals such as “Music Man”, “Hello Dolly”, “Oklahoma”, “Sweet Charity”, and “Bye Bye Birdie”. At the New Dawn Theater Company, she has appeared in “Miracle on 34th Street” and “Sherlock’s Veiled Secrets”. She is delighted to be a part of the New Dawn Family and hopes that people will continue to support live theater. Theresa resides in Duluth, GA with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Barbara Jarvis, Hospitality Manager: Barbara was a theater and music major in college and her first show was “Finian’s Rainbow” and after working on this show, was hooked. She met her husband, Rick, in college, in the theater department and it has been a show ever since – 45 years, two children and seven wonderful grand kids!!!! She, along with Rick, has worked in theaters in Florida, Louisiana, and now Georgia and have loved every bit of it. They started our own theater group, The Mustard Seeds Players, when in Florida. She really enjoy the technical part of theater, and loves to design, paint, do make-up, lights, and even sweep the stage. She has done shows in the above states such as: “Carousel”, ”Sound of Music”, “King and I”, “Hasty Heart”, “Take a Number Darling”, “Rich is Better”, “Kiss or Make Up”, “Music Man”, “Oliver”, “Once Upon A Mattress”, “The Corn Is Green”, and “The Madwoman of Chillot”. Working here at New Dawn Theater has been wonderful and the board is super. She Stage Managed “A Victorian Christmas” and was stage crew on “Harvey”, here as well. Everyone has been a real joy to work with. She hopes everyone will enjoy all the shows we do here at New Dawn Theater and come again. When not working at the theater, she loves to do yard work, needlework, read and watch their grandkids on stage.

Debbie Bush, New Dawn Kids Director: Debbie, born and raised in Virginia, is a retired educator of 33 years. She began her stage performances at the age of 4 when she took dance lessons continuing through high school. Debbie was also the drum major of her high school band, so music has been a big part of her life. She plays handbells at Duluth United Methodist Church. A graduate of Virginia Tech (where she was captain of the Girls’ Drill Team of the Highty-Tighties – The Regimental Band of Virginia Tech) with a BA in Elementary Education, Georgia State University with an MEd in Early Childhood Education, gifted endorsement, and Educational Administration, and Brenau University with an EdS in Middle Grades Math and Science, Debbie has spent most of her adult life working with children from kindergarten through sixth grades- either as a teacher or as an administer. She started a Drama/Puppetry Club at Chattahoochee Elementary where she spent her last 13 years in education. Now Debbie is the director of the New Dawn Kids theater group. She is extremely excited to be combining both her love of children and the theater to produce quality performances for New Dawn. Debbie has been in many productions at New Dawn starting with “It’s A Wonderful Life” and most recently “Night at the Wax Museum.” Debbie still volunteers at her former school and at the GMC- Duluth hospital. As a new member of the board, I am thrilled to be a part of a fantastic theater company.

Jay Croft, Property Master: Jay started acting in 2004 with the encouragement of friends. Since then, he has been involved in nearly 30 productions both on and off stage. His preference is on stage. Jay is always willing to help out whenever he can for a production. So he was thrilled when asked to be a part of the New Dawn Theater Company board. He would like to help the theater grow in the community as a great place for performing arts. Jay is married to Tammy, a very supportive wife, and their family consists of cats... lots of cats.

He loves the theater and loves to be on stage. One of his favorite songs is ‘There is No Business like Show Business’ Where else could you be down and when you step on the stage and hear people laugh or hear people sigh or even cry it lifts your spirits. He has been so fortunate to be on stage with some of the greatest actors anywhere. Chuck would like to leave you with one more thought: if you have a dream, don’t waste it, live out your dream. If you ever wanted to be on the stage, all it takes is to come out and audition for one of our productions and who knows you just might be writing your own bio.
