Historical/Biographical Notes

In 1871 Franklin Wesson and G.H. Harrington began the manufacture of a shell-ejecting revolver,patented by Harrington. Harrington purchased Wesson's interest in 1874 and began a partnershipwith William A. Richardson under the name Harrington & Richardson. In 1888 the partnershipwas dissolved, and the company incorporated under the name Harrington & Richardson ArmsCompany. The company was granted several patents for improvements to revolvers during thelatter 1800s. Beginning in 1899 the company also manufactured shotguns, handcuffs, and relatedproducts. After 1973 the company is no longer listed.

Scope and Content

The collection is comprised of Catalogue No. 17, 1929, picturing 19 revolvers, 7 shotguns, andone shotgun pistol, with handcuffs, leg irons, and twisters. No prices are shown.
