MEDIA GUIDE 2018 SEASON 192 • Late in 2010 and early 2011 was an incredibly trying time for the Harold family. In a three-month span, Eli’s brother Walter unexpectedly lost his son, Forrest, and Eli’s mother, Sheila Korvette, passed away from cancer. In the wake of the family’s tragedy, Harold moved in with Walter, the closest thing he had to a father fig- ure. After becoming a highly-touted prospect and recording his first sack at the University of Virginia, Harold dedicated the milestone to his older brother. In July of 2016, Harold teamed with Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor and other NFL players to host the Inaugural “VA’s Next Up” football camp. The camp was attended by more than 150 middle and high school athletes/students which focused on life skills, financial literacy, NCAA rules and regulations, entrepreneur- ship, teamwork and communication. Said Harold on the genesis of the event, “I reached out to Kam and thought it would be a great idea to get some of the guys from the 757 to start a camp to reach these kids,” he said. “We wanted to reach back out to the commu- nity and give back to the kids. We also wanted to let them know that they can do anything they want to do in life.” One of many interests Harold has, his sneaker collection is the one that he is the most passionate about. A collector of more than 250 pairs of shoes, Harold’s col- lection ranges from Air Jordan’s to “Anything red and suede,” which particularly catch his eyes. His sneaker interest translates to his cleats on the field. “If you look good, you feel good, you play good. That’s what it’s all about,” said Harold. GOLDMINE During all Week 13 games in 2017, NFL players had the chance to share the causes that are important to them as part of the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats campaign. “I want to honor and show respect to my mother and her battle with Pancreatic Cancer,” said Harold. “My message to those affected by the disease: Stay strong and know that you are loved.” As part of the 49ers annual Thanksgiving celebrations, Harold and his teammates visited Cityteam San Jose to serve a holiday feast to over 300 people in need. Guests enjoyed turkey along with all of the usual holiday sides, while getting to know the 49ers. • Harold was “Mr. Everything” for his high school team, playing quarterback, running back, wide receiver and defensive end at Ocean Lakes HS. Racking up 1,146 yards and 20 touchdowns in a wildcat offense, he was named first-team All-Tidewater, the Beach District Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team all-district se- lection at wide receiver and defensive end. HAROLD’S GOLDEN NUGGETS Persevered through the unspeakable tragedy of losing his mother, Sheila Korvette, to become a highly sought-after prospect. Harold is cousins with current Pittsburgh Steelers WR and former 2013 second-round (34th overall) draft pick of the Ten- nessee Titans, Justin Hunter. Finished his college career ranking 11th in Virginia school his- tory with 17.5 total sacks.
