SUPERINTENDENT’S
MESSAGE
HTS students and staff ended a fantastic week-long celebration of
respect with various grade level activities, ending with a school wide
rainbow-themed picture. Every student had the opportunity to write
about a person they respect. These will proudly be displayed around
the school.
Enjoy your weekend.
Mr. Spelker

us know.

Halloween & Food Allergies
Halloween is just around the corner. For kids with food allergies and intolerances it can be tricky since many types of candy
contain allergens such as peanuts, tree-nuts, wheat, soy, egg, and dairy. Please consider having treats that all kids can enjoy or a
separate bucket with either allergen-safe options or non-food options.
Candy Options: Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, lollipops such as Dum Dums or Ring Pops, Smarties, Swedish Fish, or Starburst
Non-Food Items: Pencils, stickers, glow sticks etc. Please see the Teal Pumpkin Project for more ideas
https://www.foodallergy.org/education-awareness/teal-pumpkin-project/ideas-for-non-food-treats
More information on how kids with food allergies and food intolerances can stay safe at Halloween from the Allergy & Asthma
Network.
https://community.kidswithfoodallergies.org/blog/allergy-friendly-halloween-candy-guide
Never assume that candy labeled “allergen free” is safe for everyone.
All kids are different and have different food allergies and intolerances.
Let’s be proactive this year and make Halloween a bit safer!
Happy Halloween!
