Traffic impact Marine transport of the excavated materials to cross-boundary receptor sites Minimize traffic impacts to local road network in Central Kowloon Environmental impact Reduce construction wastes (3 300m3 rock armour, 18 000m3 excavated rock and 33 000m3 excavated soil/sediment could be re-used) Minimize environmental impacts Programme Optimize the construction period of CKR (the anticipated road opening in Sep 2025 is based on the existence of barging facility and stockpile area at Kai Tak til End 2024) Cost Cost saving for in preserving KTW site offices: $5.8M Cost saving for in setting up BEM site offices instead of rental: 25M Cost saving on the re-use of excavated materials: $26M Impossible to carry out cross-boundary disposal in view of the capacity limit of existing public fill banks� Delay connection between key transport hub and population nodes in the north and the harbourfront in the south Cause traffic congestion, air and noise pollution by 60 truck trips per hour for C&D materials between the sites and the destination of C&D materials
