Hey Cowtown Members, Our January meeting went well. We had a lot of fun with the board nomination process. We tried to nominate Kelly Hilla for president when he left the room, but he was wise to us. Don't miss the February meeting you might be next. I tried to recog-nize all the club members that help out the club in many different capacities, but I for-got at least 2. First, Grady Hentz has been and will continue to be our clubs representa-tive at the TMCCC meetings. Thanks Grady! And second, Gene Quick stepped forward and asked to help out with the race team. Gene is going to be our race team co-ordinator. Thanks Gene! The 3 of us will work together this year and I hope it is our most successful year yet. The Dallas Autorama is here. We have 7 club members, that I know of, in the show again this year. Drop by and say hey to Jimmy Box, Randy Buntyn, Bob Graham, Danny Henslee, Tommy Martin, CJ Roy and Alan Spry. Thanks guys for taking the time and effort to show your cars this year.

The Ft. Worth Rod & Custom Show is March 5-6-7. If you plan to or would like to put your car in the show please let me know. We are planning for our annual car show and we need everyone's help. If you would like to help with registration, judging, parking, set up, teardown,

clean up, door prizes, goody bags... let a board member know. We need help gather-ing door prize goodies. Get some show flyers off the web site or at the meeting and drop by your local parts house and ask for a donation, it is that easy. We are having a little trouble getting our needed 10 car show shirt sponsors, so this year we are going to try something new. You can be a sponsor and have your name on the back of every show shirt we have printed for $25. This is strictly a donation to the club and it will be greatly appreciated. The only problem is time is short, we need to act quickly. See ya soon Beep Beep! Mark Buchanan Cowtown Mopar's President

Racing season is just around the corner too. Gene Quick is going to be our race team coordinator and promises some exciting things this year. He wants the club to win the championship for the third year in a row so if you need some hints on how to win, just ask Gene! We still have the elections coming up in March. Keep in mind that it is important

to be at that meeting and have your membership current so you can cast your vote for the officers for the next year. Mike Miller Cowtown Mopar VP & Master Blaster

Hello Club Members It's show time! By the time this gets to you in your mail box the Dallas Auto Rama will be history and we will be preparing for the Fort Worth Rod and Custom show..... then it will be our turn! There has been a lot of interest in our show this year from an assortment of vendors wanting to set up to hawk their goods! Huffines is going to advertise it on the radio and will even have a remote radio sta-tion broadcast at the show! This show looks like it may be the largest we have ever had so don't miss it this year.

The January monthly general mem-bership meeting was held on the 18th at Spring Creek BBQ in Bedford. Af-ter an apparel clearance sale, guests and visitors were welcomed and rec-ognized. Discussed briefly was the two indoor car shows of Dallas and Ft. Worth, as well as the sponsor agreement package between the club and our sponsor, Huffines dealership of fine vehicles. Bob Carroll was presented with the car of the year plaque, and with that presentation his car will be featured on this year's show shirts. The Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge has two rac-ing dates in the month of March, the 14th and 28th...please watch the website for any up-dates. Early nominations were then opened to the floor for our club officers. Nominated for Newsletter Editor was Dave Maxon, Bob Car-roll for Activities Director, Bernie Powell for

Membership Director, Ken Angyal for Secretary, Mike Miller for Vice Presi-dent, Mark Buchanan for President, and Rick Brownell for Treasurer. Webmaster was again taken on by Mike Miller, which is an appointed position and Mike Morris has volunteered his time and tal-ent to be the club photographer. There

are still two more meetings to enter a name for club officers. Elections will be at the March meeting. At the close of the January nomina-tions, cars/trucks for sale or wanted was on the open forum. The 50/50 pot was won by Brian Carpenter. After a few door prizes were won, the January meeting was adjourned at 5:25pm. Keep America Beautiful, Drive A Mopar !! Respectfully submitted by: Ken Angyal, Secretary Cowtown Mopar's

Maui, The Valley Isle I recently took a vacation to paradise, Maui, Hawaii, the 50th state of this great country. Words cannot express how beautiful this piece of nature's plan is. While looking over a selection of vehicles at island Dodge dealership in Kahu-lui, I was able to strike up a conversation with a local islander. We went inside the dealership for some Kona coffee and returned outside into the gorgeous sunny day where he gave a brief legend of the island. With words and hand gestures he proceeded. Over 70 million years ago white hot magma escaped from the earth's core. Water and air cooled the molten lava into sea mountains. And as the magma continued to flow between the two volcanoes, as isthmus formed a valley between these volcanoes. earth, air, fire, and water fashioned the island fertile with plant life, graceful valleys, streams, and waterfalls. The fiery passion of this valley isle, or maui, is a result of two volcanoes; west Maui volcano which is now extinct, and Haleakala, dormant for 200 years. The summit of the Haleakala crater exceeds 10 thousand feet into the clouds, and is accessible by car, atv, bicycle, or by foot trails. There is only two directions in Hawaiian: towards the mountain or towards the sea. I thanked the person for his time and then headed back to the car to see more of this island paradise, voted by many travel magazines as the #1 island in the world. Food was rea-sonable, housing was high, and gas was $2.37 for regular. Fresh air, fresh food and fruits, tours, golf, was all here to enjoy. I know I did. Mahalo.......submitted by Ken Angyal, Sec.

And Now For The Funnies The aspiring psychiatrists were attending their first class on emotional extremes. "Just to establish some parame-ters," said the professor, to the student from Arkansas, "What is the opposite of joy?" "Sadness," said the stu-dent. "And the opposite of depression?" he asked of the young lady from Oklahoma. "Elation," said she. "And you sir," he said to the young man from Texas, "How about the opposite of woe?" The Texan replied, "Sir, I believe that would be giddy-up. ______________________________________________ The Lexus A lady walks into a Lexus dealership. She browses around, then spots the perfect car and walks over to in-spect it. As she bends to feel the fine leather upholstery, a loud fart escapes her. Very embarrassed, she looks around nervously to see if anyone has noticed her little accident and hopes a sales person doesn't pop up right now. As she turns back, there standing next to her is a salesman. "Good day, Madame. How may we help you today?" Very uncomfortably she asks, "Sir, what is the price of this lovely vehicle?" He answers, "Madame, if you farted just touching it, you are going to crap when you hear the price." ——————————————————————— Top 8 Morons of 2003 1. WILL THE REAL DUMMY PLEASE STAND UP? AT&T fired President John Walter after nine months, saying he lacked intellectual leadership. He received a $26 million severance package. Perhaps it's not Walter who's lacking intelligence. 2. WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS: Police in Oakland, California spent two hours attempting to subdue a gunman who had barricaded himself inside his home. After firing ten tear gas canisters, officers dis-covered that the man was standing beside them in the po-lice line, shouting, "Please come out and give yourself up." 3. WHAT WAS PLAN B??? An Illinois man, pretending to have a gun, kidnapped a motorist and forced him to drive to two different auto-mated teller machines, wherein the kidnapper proceeded to withdraw money from his own bank accounts. 4. THE GETAWAY! A man walked into a Topeka, Kansas, Kwik Stop, and asked for all the money in the cash drawer. Apparently, the take was too small, so he tied up the store clerk and worked the counter himself for three hours until police showed up and grabbed him. 5. DID I SAY THAT???

Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just couldn't control himself during a lineup. When de-tectives asked each man in the lineup to repeat the words: "Give me all your money or I'll shoot," the man shouted, "That's not what I said!" 6. ARE WE COMMUNICATING?? A man spoke frantically into the phone, "My wife is pregnant, and her contractions are only two minutes apart!" "Is this her first child?" the doctor asked. "No!" the man shouted, "This is her husband!" 7. NOT THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHED!! In Modesto, California, Steven Richard King was arrested for trying to hold up a Bank of America branch without a weapon. King used a thumb and a finger to simulate a gun, but unfortunately, he failed to keep his hand in his pocket (hellllllooooooo!) 8. THE GRAND FINALE (I LOVE THIS ONE!!!) Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high de-sert, an hour east of Bakersfield, California, some folks, new to boating, were having problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new 22 ft. boat going. It was very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power was applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted to a nearby marina, thinking someone there could tell them what was wrong. A thorough topside Check revealed everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine, the out drive went up and down, and the prop was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up chok-ing on water, he was laughing so ha rd. Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer. ————————————————————————–- Whack Two men are driving through Mississippi when they get pulled over by a State Trooper. The cop walks up and taps on the window with his nightstick. The driver rolls down the window and WHACK, the cop smacks him in the head with the stick. "What the heck was that for?" the driver asks. "You're in Mis'ipi Boy" the trooper answers. "When we pull you over, you better have your license ready when we get to your car.." "I'm sorry, officer," the driver says, "I'm not from around here." The trooper runs a check on the guy's license--he's clean--and gives the guy his license back. The trooper then walks around to the passenger side and taps on the win-dow. The passenger rolls down the window and WHACK, the trooper smacks him on the head with the nightstick. "What'd you do that for?" the passenger asks. "Just making your wish come true," replies the trooper. "Making WHAT wish come true?" the passenger asks. "Because I know," the trooper says," that two miles down the road you're gonna turn to your buddy and say, "I wish that butthole would've tried that crap with me!"

About a year ago I was talking to our oldest son, Charles, about going together to build a race car. We considered a Dart with a 360 crate motor, but never did more than "talk" about it, and several months passed. At the Dallas Mopar Club Show in August 2003 we saw this car for sale. Richard Lemon and our middle son, Mark, pointed out that it was race ready and a good buy. Long story short, we (Chuck and Norma) with son Charles, bought the car. We raced the last three club races at Kennedale, Ennis, and Red Line (our youngest son, Paul, drove at Red Line), and a nostal-gia race at Denton. This winter, with Dean Allen doing the work, we now have disc brakes, line lock, good axle bearings, electric fuel pump, and a transmission rebuild. A floor shifter was removed and the original push buttons replaced. We have been asked several times, "That thing got a Hemi in it?" It has a 440 with 4:10 gear set and runs in the super muscle class. Last year with a second to third gear slip, launching from an idle through the mufflers, we ran a best 8.18 eighth mile and a 13.25 quarter mile. We plan to open the headers and use the stall converter to see what it will run. The former owner showed us time slips with a best 12.74 at 105.4 through the mufflers with the stall. Having fun with our family and the Cowtown family, Chuck Buchanan
