Happy Valentine’s Day

Most Holy Mother, at Lourdes you asked us to do penance and to pray for the conversion of sinners. Obtain for each of us the grace of true penance. Help those for whom we pray and especially those who most need God’s mercy. Your Divine Son so loves every soul that He gave His life to pay the price for our redemption. Help us to return His love by making the sacrifices needed to keep His commandments. Most Holy Mother, you offered your Divine Son to the Eternal Father when you presented Him in the temple; offer us to the Father as your other children; watch over us and guide us. Blessed Mother, obtain for us the graces we most need, and especially the favors we seek in this novena, if they be in keeping with God’s will. Amen. Here make requests, pray the Memorare and the Rosary.

25th Anniversary World Day of the SickSaturday, February 11 – The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

This Day was instituted by St. John Paul II in 1992. He called it “a special time of prayer and sharing, of offering one’s suffering.”

Pope Francis said that “time spent with the sick is holy time. It is a way of praising God who conforms us in the image of His Son.”

St. John Paul II said, “It is in care for the sick more than in any other way that love is made concrete and witness of hope in the Resurrection is offered.”

We can serve the sick by prayer, sacrifices, visits and cards, as well as assistance in any way needed. Could we perhaps accompany a person who is ill, disabled, addicted or disturbed to a church, adoration chapel or healing service?

Consider the example in Mark 2:1-13. It tells of four men who cared enough about their paralytic friend to lower him through the roof to reach Jesus. Our Lord commended those men for their faith, forgave the sins of the paralytic and healed him.

Let us pray for doctors, nurses, professional caregivers and family caregivers. Their loving concern for the sick and disabled, including special-needs children and the elderly, is a model of true Christian charity. Their sacrifices bring untold graces to humanity.

The Importance of Spiritual HealingsSpiritual healings may be more significant than physical. During this

100th anniversary of Fatima, let us ponder that conversions, reparation and peace are the primary focus of Our Lady’s 1917 Fatima messages.

Fr. James Sullivan, OP, in Magnificat Feb. 2017, writes, “The true miracles of healing which take place in our lives are those that we could never even have imagined. We may not even realize that we have a need to be healed in a certain way. Our prayer is a simple plea: ‘Heal me, Lord, according to Your will.’”

time, talents and resources. We have five volunteers who are 90-plus. Genevieve G. celebrated her 91st in January. Also, Margaret M. is 90, Peggy K. 95, and Dorothy F. 90. Betty S. is 90-plus and is our longest-serving volunteer. She has given 33 years. Wow! What a blessing you all are!
