Welcome to our December Newsletter. First I want to say thank you to all of our loyal customers out there that have supported us this year. Without you, we would not be able to create the designs, tutorials and events that you all love! 2011 was a very exciting year at Anita Goodesign and 2012 looks to be even more exciting. 2011 brought us the exciting Mix and Match quilting collections, the Project series, The Floral Rings, Garden Gate, Christmas and Prayer Garden Special Editions, as well as dozens of other collections. We also added more educators so we presented even more events in 2011 than we ever have before. Next year you will see even more events, more quilting projects, and more trunk shows at your local dealers as well as new special editions, exciting contests and much more. Again, I want to thank you for your patronage and continued support. Happy Holidays to you and your family.Steve WilsonOwnerAnita Goodesign, Inc.

s We wanted to create a f loral c o l l e c t i o n t hat wou ld look great on clothing, so the idea for Fantasy F lora l w a s born. Fantasy Floral contains 1 5 j u m b o designs that come in two sizes, 6”x10”

and 5”x7”. There are also 25 smaller designs that compliment the larger ones. The most exciting part about designing this collection was choosing the applique fabrics and colors. We chose all different pinks and purples for the thread colors and then chose a wide variety of applique materials. We wanted a lot of texture so we used velvet, organza, sparkle organza, silk, felt and knit. The different fabrics really made the designs pop.

“The Orient ” Full Mix & Match Collection

“Faith Quilt”Full Mix & Match Collection

This is a design col lection that sta r ted as a project used at our Embroidery Parties. We wanted to create a project that demonstrated how to embroider on a napkin without any fancy hooping or stabilizer tricks. The project turned into a collection after we saw how

excited everyone got when they discovered how easy it was. There are 15 different themes to embroider all your napkins and linens.

The Orient collection was inspired by one of our previous releases “Asian Qui lt ”. T he Asian Qui lt c o l l e c t i o n was designed years before the concept of Mix and Match quilt ing was released. I took a few pieces of

the art from that collection and re-digitized them using a bolder bean stitch and folded fabric borders. The end result is like nothing you’ve ever seen. The folded fabric borders really compliment the designs.

I wanted to create a faith inspired quilt that was modern and full of exciting details. That was the inspiration behind the Mix and Match Faith Quilt. There are 16 jumbo blocks that use applique and feature popular Christian themes like praying hands, the dove, cross and fish. We used two different batik fabrics

as the background and other corresponding batik fabrics as the appliques in the designs. There are also folded fabric blocks, running stitch blocks and blank blocks included in the collection. Whatever type of quilt you want to create we are giving you plenty of options. As an added bonus we are including all 16 themes separated and rearranged without the backgrounds to use on shirts or other projects. The individual designs come in two different sizes.

”We are going to start 2012 off with a BANG with some exciting New Mix & Match Collections!

These collections will change the way you approach quilting forever!

This is not a Quilt Revolution...It’s a Quilt Evolution!

If you have a machine with a large hoop, you need a lot of fabric to stitch out a design. An 8”x12” hoop takes approximately 12”x19” of fabric. This leads to a lot of waste even if you are careful, and makes estimating how much fabric you need more difficult. The Mix and Match Quilts all work the same way. You hoop a piece of muslin and stabilizer as your foundation. Then, all of your fabrics and folded fabric pieces are used as appliques. So, if you are creating an 8” block, all you need to use is a 9” piece of fabric. You will never be able to tell that the fabric you see wasn’t hooped. You also won’t be able to tell that the quilts were not pieced in the traditional manner.

PERFEcTly cENTEREd dEsIgNs3. With the Mix and Match line, you will never have to use chalk or invisible ink to draw your blocks on fabric. You will never have designs that are off center or blocks with large areas of empty fabric. The Mix and Match blocks all include borders, stippling or other techniques to make the designs pop and align perfectly. You will never want to create an embroidered quilt the old way again.

No moRE mEasuRINg2. Ensuring that each block is exactly the same when constructing a large quilt is not easy, especially when the quilt contains different sized blocks and elements like mitered corners. With the Mix and Match Quilts, that is no longer the case. Each of the blocks in these quilts use the same technique. When each block is finished, you will notice a square running stitch line around them. Simply square off your block using your rotary cutter and ruler and they will fit perfectly together even the mitered corner blocks. You no longer will have to measure and re-cut and figure out angles ...ever.

Whether you’re an embroiderer that has never created a quilt or a traditional quilter, you will be able to create a quilt twice as fast with our Mix & Match Quilting collections. We have removed the difficulty of traditional quilting and made masterpiece quilts much easier to create. Go to our website at www.anitagoodesignonline.com and go to “Everything You Need to Know About Mix and Match Quilting” and download the PDF tutorial for complete details.
