MISSION FOCUS The Stories of Children Did you know that an estimated 17,000 to 24,000 children were living on the streets of Kiev, Ukraine when the Podgaiskys were commissioned by CBF in 2002? Gennady and Mina Podgaisky found children as young as 3 years of age sleeping in the city's underground tunnels at night and wandering the streets during the day begging for food. The children traveled in groups for safety purposes. Girls dressed like boys to avoid being noticed. Under the Podgaisky's leadership, a coalition of people from numerous denominations and social ministry groups are combining their ministry efforts to reach street children. The coalition has created after school programs, day shelters, feeding centers, independent living homes and rehabilitation centers. Today, there are less than 3,000 children on the streets of Kiev. The Podgaisky's ministry is made possible through your gifts to the CBF Offering for Global Missions. Go to www.thefellowship.info/Missions/Global-Missions , click on Field personnel, then click on Podgaisky to learn more about their ministry. COMMUNITY/REGIONAL HEALTH FAIR Shady Grove Baptist and Orange Baptist Churches will hold our 14 th Community/Regional Health Fair Sat., Oct. 22, from 9AM to 2PM at Shady Grove. With the exception of flu shots and mammogram screenings, everything offered is free to the public and all services are provided by volunteers. There were over 350 persons in attendance last year, the first year that Orange Baptist had partnered with Shady Grove. More information will be in the weekly bulletins. MAKING A KINGDOM IMPACT IN THE WORLDBEGINNING IN OUR COMMUNITY

ORANGE BAPTIST WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS!

Tracy Henry comes to OBC by transfer of letter. Tracy was born and raised here in Orange County and grew up working on her parents farm and in their general store. She has 2 children; Kelly is 14 a freshman at OCHS and Cole is 12 a student at PHMS in the 7th grade. She has several brothers and sisters and lots of nieces and nephews. Tracy went to work at State Farm Insurance in Charlottesville after graduating from OCHS in 1988 and has been there for 23 years and hopes to be able to retire from there. How she got to OBC?Kelly was invited to Wednesday night’s Music and Missions about 4 years ago by her best friend, Emily Fitch. At that time, we were attending the church that I went to as a kid. Kelly continued to attend and then got involved with the youth group. We decided to start attending OBC regularly since she wanted to stay involved. We have been welcomed and are blessed to have a wonderful church family.

David & Meg Camp come to OBC by profession of faith.

David grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and Meg grew up in Vienna, VA. They met while students at UVA and moved to Orange in 2007 when David received a teaching position at OCHS as an English Teacher. Meg’s primary role is mom to their two children, Rosemary, 4, and Naomi, 2, and they are awaiting the arrival of their first son in October. She is also the part-time ESOL Liaison for the Orange County Public School System. Meg also participates in MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers).

THANK YOU!

I want to thank everyone at Orange Baptist Church for their kindness, prayers, cards from the Deacons, phone calls, and many thanks for the delicious luncheon following the funeral service for Regal Robinson. It was wonderful.

Thanks also to Pastor Rick for everything you helped me through.

Love, Erma Boyles and family

To Our Church Members

Thank you for all your attention to my recovery. I don’t think a stone was left unturned to help me get well. You have surely worked hard to put humpty-dumpty back together again.

Your many acts of kindness, a long list, all meaningful, have truly been a blessing to me and to my family.

Love, Charlene Schweikert

Our church family left nothing undone in caring for Mother and her family. As a life-long resident of Orange County, she had survived a number of old friends in church.

The many kindnesses shown us were multiplied by the prayers of our minister and church family. A simple thank-you cannot cover all the blessings that have carried us through her long life and her peaceful death.

Our thanks to all you dear people.

Love, The Family of Eleanor Talley
