Agreement for Academic Cooperation

HANYANG UNIVERSTIY and HACEITEPE UNIVERSITY (hereafter called "the universities'') join in

the following agreement for academic cooperation in promotion of the advancement of learning

through exchange and cooperation in teaching and research.

Article 1

The institutions agree to encourage the following activities based on the spirit of reciprocal

equality: ..

Joint research in the fields of mutual interest to the institutions

Exchange of faculty, research personnel and students between the institutions for

research and study

Exchange of faculty and staff members for participation in conferences, seminars and

workshops

Exchanges of materials in education, research, publications and academic information

Article 2

1. Each year both universities may send up to 10 undergraduate/graduate students (5 per

semester) to be enrolled at the host university.

2. Exchange students shall be enrolled as non-degree seeking students at the host university.

Credit of non-degree seeking students will be transferred back to the home university.

3. The duration of exchange students shall be up to either one or two semesters.

4. Students will be selected by their home institution on the basis of academic merit and

sUitability for study at the host university. Students selected by the home university will be

required to submit to the host university the following:

a completed application form to be an exchange student at the host university

an official transcript from the home university

an official letter of recommendation from the home university

a bank statement (for a visa purpose)

5. The host university reserves the right to reject candidates, in which case additional

candidates may be proposed.

6. Transcripts of exchange students will be provided to the home university.

7. Exchange students shall be subject to the rules and regulations of the host institution and

country. They will also have the rights and privileges enjoyed by all students of the host

university.

8. Exchange students shall pay whatever fees required of them by their home institution in

order to participate in the program and shall be exempt from paying tuition and academic

fees to the host university.

9. The payment for all travel, medical insurance and subsistence (room &board) costs shall

be the responsibility of the individual participant in the exchange program and neither

university shall be held liable for such charges. Students selected shall satisfy the home

unjversity that they have adequate funds for transportation to and from the home

ui'liversity and for subsistence during their stay.

10. Host universities will provide appropriate assistance to exchange students in finding

adequate housing either on or off campus.

11. Hanyang University shall waive tuition for exchange students from Hacettepe University

to the Korean Language and Culture Program offered by the Hanyang International

Language Institute during their stay.

12. The Office of International Cooperation of Hanyang University and the Office of

International Relations Office of Hacettepe University shall be offices responsible for the

administration of this exchange program.

Article 3

The institutions agree that specific details of cooperation necessary to implement this

agreement must be negotiated with each other.

Article 4

The institutions acknowledge that unless otherwise agreed upon, all expenses concerning

salaries, travels, living and allied costs will be determined at the discretion, and be the

responsibility of the visitor's home university or participating visitor.

Article 5

This agreement shall become effective as of the date of signatures by the representatives of the

institutions. The amendment or the termination of this agreement shall be not effective without

deliberation between the institutions.

Article 6

The institutions agree to review this agreement every five years in order to evaluate the

progress and improve the quality of the exchange.

Article 7

The agreement will be drawn up in two copies in English. One copy of this agreement will be

retained at each institution.
