ARCHBISHOP HANNAN HIGH SCHOOL
FORMINGFAITHInspiring excellence
A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE
Celebrating 30 Years of
Catholic Education and Formation
Catholic. Coed. College Prep. Located in Covington, Louisiana. At Archbishop Hannan High School, we take inspiration from the life and ministry of Archbishop Philip Hannan to foster faith, inspire academic excellence and develop character. Founded in 1987 in St. Bernard Parish, Archbishop Hannan relocated to Covington in 2008 after Hurricane Katrina devastated the original campus. Today, we’re big enough (grades 8-12, enrollment 613) to offer a broad curriculum and lots of extracurriculars, yet small enough to feel like a warm and loving family. A family that encourages each student to grow spiritually, intellectually, physically and creatively.
Our Mission Archbishop Hannan High School forms men and women of faith, character and scholarship by developing the whole student. Through an academically rigorous education and Christ-centered formation, we prepare and inspire our students to think critically, act with compassion and integrity, and respond as leaders to the needs of a complex and diverse world.

FAST FACTS
Service, Study and Sacraments for Spiritual FormationFollowing our namesake’s motto and example, spiritual formation grounds the mission of Archbishop Hannan High
School. Campus ministry, service learning and theology coursework all afford students a deeper understanding of the
Gospel, engaging them to live out the message of Christ. Our Christian Service program encourages students to move
beyond volunteerism to a deeper understanding of authentic charity, applying classroom knowledge to the needs of our
complex and diverse world. Campus ministry provides opportunities for students to personally experience faith in God
and Jesus Christ through liturgy, worship experiences and annual retreats.
FORMINGFAITH
Charity Leads to Perfection
Archbishop Philip M. Hannan left an
indelible imprint on the city of New Orleans.
Installed as the 11th Archbishop of New
Orleans in 1965, he found an archdiocese
heavily damaged by Hurricane Betsy.
He battled racism, poverty and hunger;
founded a television station; even hosted
Pope John Paul II’s Apostolic Visit to New
Orleans. Modeled on his lifelong dedication
to broadening both minds and hearts,
Archbishop Hannan High School prepares
students to be Christ-focused citizens and
leaders who understand the past and feel
confident in their ability to face the future.

Inspiring excellenceSTEM ProgramThe Archbishop Hannan STEM program helps prepare students for leadership in the 21st century workplace. Through our rigorous project-based curriculum in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), students develop necessary skills in key areas such as critical thinking, effective oral and written communication, and group collaboration.
Archbishop Hannan High School is proud to partner with and incorporate the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) STEM Curriculum. This four-year Engineering and Biomedical program begins in the 9th grade and continues through the student’s Senior year. The PLTW curriculum immerses the student in the skills necessary for success in the 21st century: Communication, Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Collaboration. Giving students early experiences in the world of science, technology, engineering and math helps them gain confidence in seeking solutions to new problems and connecting classroom lessons to the world around them, while discovering how to become effective problem solvers.
Academic RigorArchbishop Hannan High School emphasizes academic excellence and intellectual challenge. The rigorous curriculum is grounded in an educational philosophy that emphasizes reflection, discernment, scholarly excellence, and personal responsibility. Course work is designed to develop critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. Students are challenged to achieve personally and academically because teachers have personal knowledge of, care for, and close rapport with their students.
