Global WorkplaceDesign Challenge:To design a 15,000 sq.ft. global workplace five years into the future while being considerate of Sao Paulo, Brazil’s culture. After extensive research the future office space will be a touchdown base to collaborate with other employees. Brazilians are known for being hard working individuals. Although they love time away from work, they enjoy being at work. The design reflects this with a balance between social and workplaces.
Application:First began with extensive research on the workplace today and how it is differs in cultures. Focused on the future of work place as a touchdown space. Then moved into concept development, complying to IBC 2012 codes, fire and life safety codes, sustainable design methods, materiality research, and construction documents.

Luxury ApartmentDesign Challenge:To renovate an existing flat in an apartment building to a luxurious home in Florence, Italy with no budget constraints. This space is unique because many of the walls are structural and cannot be moved making renovation challenging. The space also includes a flex space that can be used as a spare studio or as second income that could be rented out.
Application:Materiality was a focus because of the luxurious aspect. Italians take pride in craftsmanship and bespoke, in luxurious spaces especially. Throughout the floor plan the Italian design differs by hiding services areas such as bathrooms and the kitchen, this is reflected on the floor plan.

After completing the construction documents and detail drawings moved on to the creation and fabrication of design. This project is now in use in Rosalia, Washington.
Application:To complete a project from the construction document phase to the final built phase. Be able to apply construction documents to an actual built product. Focused on materiality for outdoor use and actual built construction.

Pop-Up RestaurantDesign Challenge:To design a mobile pop-up restaurant for Seattle’s legendary chef Tom Douglas. The space will include a kitchen and some seating. The pop-up will also sell Tom Douglas retail merchandise including rubs and his hot stove knives. The mobile restaurant will share with the community who Tom Douglas is and what he stands for.
Application:Tom Douglas is known for being an honest chef, such as his farm to table concept of cooking. The pop-up restaurant highlights his simple approach with food and is seen throughout the design. The pop-up will be a mobile parklet that will travel and share the fresh food of Tom Douglas.
