HistoryHANNA Instruments was founded in Padova, Italy in 1978 by Annaand Oscar Nardo and is currently headquartered in Woonsocket,Rhode Island by their children, Pamela and Martino Nardo. With over50 offices in 40 countries worldwide, HANNA continues to grow tomeet the demand for its products in a variety of industries.Throughout its history, HANNA has been at the forefront oftechnology and innovation.
PhilosophyThe philosophy of the Nardo family has always been to supplycustomers around the world with practical, cost-effective solutionsfor their testing needs.
When HANNA introduced the pHep® pH (pH Electronic Paper) testerin 1986 it literally revolutionized the world of testing. Millions ofpeople from various industries were now capable of testing pHsimply, accurately and affordably. This is the basis for the winningphilosophy strongly embedded in HANNA. When we introduced theworld’s first single parameter series of automatic titrators dedicatedto food analysis in 2005, we put thousands of users from around theworld in the position to improve the quality of their product byperforming their own in-house analytical tests.
The driving philosophy that has been a HANNA trademark for overthree decades has enabled us to provide the right instrumentationto our customers with world class service and support.
InnovationFor over thirty years, HANNA has prided itself in being a world leader in innovation of analytical instrumentation. Headed by our team at thehome office, HANNA’s research & development department constantlychallenge themselves to invent new testing techniques, and to advanceexisting technology. The minds at HANNA work to achieve the common goal of simplifying analytical testing through improvinginstrumentation, sensor development, reagents and chemicals.
In 1985, HANNA was first to introduce to a pH electrode with a builtin temperature sensor. This electrode soon became commonly usedthroughout the worldwide market. In 1990, after listening to itscustomers, HANNA was one of the first companies to launch a line ofwaterproof, portable instruments built specifically for harshenvironments. The concept of giving users the possibility to checkthe accuracy of their digital thermometer (CAL CHECK™) wasintroduced by HANNA in 1995 and is still unique today. Withtechnology that was first introduced by HANNA in 2000, the HI 98129 and HI 98130 Combo testers allowed simultaneous testingfor pH and EC in a single instrument. In 2004, HANNA introduced HI 98121, the worlds first combination pH and ORP tester.
ManufacturingWe believe in controlling the quality of our products from theirinception to delivery. For this reason, we manufacture all of theproducts we bring to market. To ensure consistency and quality, eachof our manufacturing facilities are specialized in a product family.
To stay at the forefront of quality and innovation, we continuouslyinvest in new technologies and equipment as well as implementingnew manufacturing techniques. As a vertically integratedmanufacturer, HANNA does not subcontract any part ofmanufacturing. Processes such as plastic molding, glass blowing,chemical bottling and assembly are performed in one of our state ofthe art facilities. HANNA is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company.

In a short time, HANNA has reached it’s target to produce all of it’sinstrumentation in-house. Since the introduction of it’s industrialscience park located in Romania, the facility is equipped to supportall phases of production such as product research and design,plastic injection molding, electronic assembly, glass blowing forelectrodes, standards production and final assembly of product.HANNA oversees all aspects of it’s products from conception to thefinal quality check and packaging.
HANNA also produces the packaging for all product lines. Eachpackage is carefully designed for safety and practicality.
The in-house control of all research, design and production stepsprovides continual quality control at all phases to assure the highestlevel of quality.
After continuous validation and testing, HANNA products undergo a final quality control before they are packaged and released to consumers.
In-house production affords HANNA the freedom to efficientlybring new and innovative products to market while continuouslyimproving the quality and features of existing products to meet theneeds of customers.
Production FacilitiesOur main manufacturing facility is located ona 100 acre, state of the art industrial sciencepark in Nusfalau, Europe, with a secondarysite in Woonsocket, United States. All of ourproduct lines are manufactured in-house.
