When Others Talk1. We all want to be respected and
heard. This is why when another student is talking during a lesson, we all stop and look and listen to him/her. Everyone has such great ideas and it is important that we listen!
2. We do NOT play in our desks when others are talking. We do NOT talk to our neighbors when others are talking. We are a community of students who know how to make responsible and respectful choices that we can be proud of.
S.M.O.R.E.S.13
1. Your S.M.O.R.E.S. binder is a form of communication between home and school. You should bring it to school each day, as well as take it home each afternoon.2. If you forget to bring your binder to school or take it home two days in a row you will sit out your recess to write a reminder to yourself. Your parents will need to sign your note and help you look for your binder.3. If you lose your S.M.O.R.E.S. you will be responsible for replacing it.
Homework Policy1. Homework is an important way to
reinforce and practice what is taught in class each day. It will
14
be assigned on most Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
2. Homework is to be completed and turned in the next day (or on the due date).
3. If homework is not turned in, it will be completed during recess.
4. If homework is missing two days in a row, a note will be sent home. If the problem is not corrected, a trip to the office will be the next step.
Behavior Policy1. We will be tracking our behavior
with a clip chart.
15
2. The clip chart is divided into 7 categories and all students will begin in the middle.
3. Good behaviors will allow clips to be moved up.
4. Bad behaviors will mean clips need to be moved down.
Recess1. We will have recess once a day,
as long as weather permits.
16
2. Students are expected to follow rules, such as: no pushing, no shoving, appropriate usage of playground equipment, respecting others and their property, and appropriate word choices.
3. Students who choose not to follow these rules will sit out part or all of recess. Severe cases will result in a trip to the office.
4. Anyone caught punching or fighting will automatically be sent to the office.
Packing Up1. Ms. Ward will announce for first
bus riders and car riders to pack up.
17
2. When your things are packed up, put your chair on top of your desk and sit on the calendar carpet.
3. Ms. Ward will then announce for late bus riders to pack up, put chairs up and sit on the calendar carpet.
4. Things we have learned in the day will be discussed on the carpet and Ms. Ward will remind about homework and other announcements.
5. Students will line up in this order: car riders, late bus/afterschool, first bus.
Classroom Jobs1. Each week, students will be
chosen to perform jobs in the classroom.
18
2. The student is in charge of this job for the entire week.
3. If the student chooses not to be responsible in this role, they will be fired from their job and replaced by another student.
4. If you do not get a job the first week, you will the next. Don’t worry!
