What to do if there is a delay in my full-time education provision* In rare occasions there may be a delay in a child/young person attending a suitable full-time education provision. This is not an acceptable position and Social Workers must follow HCC’s Best Provision Protocol & notify their Virtual School Education Officer. However, as the PEP is a statutory part of the care plan, a PEP must still be in place and updated termly.

The Social Worker must complete the following sections: The reasons for no educational provision and the last date of attendance at the previous

school/education provision in the spaces below Basic information about me Essential Information about me from my Social Worker Contacts and Permissions Involvement of my Designated Teacher Summary of my care plan Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) Professional Involvement to date Who will say I can go on school trips? including the use of pupil premium for securing full time school place, seeking contributions from all relevant stakeholders.

What my Carer/Parent/Guardian thinks: Click here to see the “Master” Guidance

This section can be sent out in advance of the EY PEP to enable Parent/Carers to prepare for the EY PEP meetingWhat will help me to build on my strengths, do my best and be my best?

As a carer you may want to consider:

1. Are they keen to come to the Early Years setting?2. Do they feel they have a good relationship with other children in the setting?3. Do you feel they know their Key Person?4. Are they keen to take part in a variety of activities?5. Do they have any particular anxieties, worries or concerns?6. What else do you think your child needs?

As a carer you can either:

Send in your own words so that the Early Years Setting and Social Worker will paste into this section of the EY PEP or

share your thoughts at the meeting and the Setting Manager/CiC Lead/Key Person will record the main points in this section.

My Early Years to another Early Years or School Transition Plan Click here to see the “Master” Guidance

A transition planning meeting should be held in the May/June before a Sept school start, or two months before Easter or Summer term start. Settings can use the Hampshire Transition Planning Agreement. A summary of actions should be included. Present at the meeting should be the child’s Social Worker and key staff from Early Years Setting and Primary/Infant school. If further support and advice is required to enable this meeting, please contact the Virtual School Early Years Education Adviser [email protected]

The actions agreed should be child centred and should focus on 1) developing the child’s connection to the new school community - key adults and peers; 2) any learning or social, emotional, physical needs 3) support in place in Reception/Year R so I am confident to start.

The outcomes I want:1. To feel safe in my new setting2. To build positive new relationships

with my Key Person and Setting Manager. To be happy in my new class

3. For my Parent/Carers to be able to talk to my Key Person when needed

What will I do? Who will help me, how and when?

How will we know when I have achieved my target? These should include aspirational quantitative measures as well as qualitative statement s

How will additional funding be used to support this? There is accountability for EYPP spend at setting & LA levels please provide detail

Securing Full-time Education Provision Action Plan PageTo be completed in the very rare circumstances that a child or young person is without a school place or can no longer access their last named provision for any reason.

All Children in Care should attain appropriate, full time education within 20 days of leaving their previous provider. Changes of education should be planned via a PEP meeting. Where this is not possible, every effort should be made to include all parties to the PEP in transition planning, and agreed actions should be recorded here. Where there is no school of record the Social Worker MUST maintain the sections of the PEP listed under “What to do if there is a delay in my full-time education provision” as this is a statutory subsection of the care plan.

Every child should have a current & up to date PEP at all times.
