Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) is one of Europe’s leading port logistics groups. Its terminals link the three modes of transport – ship, train and truck – in an environmentally friendly way. With its forward-looking services, HHLA runs an eco-friendly network between port and hinterland. Not only does the company operate container hubs in Hamburg, one of the most important global economic hubs, it also does so in the European hinterland. High-performance transport systems, various logistics and consulting services as well as the associated real estate complete HHLA’s integrated business model, which places particular emphasis on intelligent processes. Cutting-edge technology and the expertise of dedicated employees make key contributions to success. The HHLA Companies’ services are pooled in four segments: Container, Intermodal, Logistics and Real Estate.

HHLA Highlights
Loading and discharge: Gantry cranes handle boxes at high speed
The Port of Hamburg is a crucial link between dynamic economies, in particular between Asia and Central and Eastern Europe. Here, at the high-performance HHLA Container Terminals Altenwerder, Burchardkai and Tollerort, environmentally friendly vessels and trains are connected to form effi cient transport chains. Technical innovations and automated work processes enable a level of productivity which sets international benchmarks. With a long-term, fl exible programme of modernisation and expansion, HHLA ensures that capacity at its facilities is increased in line with demand. HHLA also operates a leading handling facility in the growth-oriented region of the Black Sea at the Container Terminal Odessa (HPC Ukraina). HCCR complements the comprehensive range of HHLA services around the box by maintaining, reconstructing and cleaning containers of all kind.

Metrans Inland Terminal Prague: Hub for environmentally friendly Transport
HHLA takes the port to the European hinterland by means of an extensive transport and terminal network. Rail traffi c provided by the HHLA subsidiaries Metrans and Polzug link the seaports of Northern Europe to the up-and-coming economic regions in Central and Eastern Europe. Its intermodal hub terminals make the high quality of maritime logistics available far into the hinterland. Metrans and Polzug combine container fl ows with high-frequency, environmentally effi cient shuttle connections. At the same time, they arrange individualised transport solutions for their customers. Additional services such as tailor-made shipment information, customs clearance or storage are a matter of course. The container forwarder CTD then takes charge of transporting the container over long distances and delivers within the metropolitan areas of German cities.

Warehouse Block P, HQ for Hamburg Port Authority: Award winner for exemplary renovation
Project development, district management and actively shaping urban redevelopment form the key competencies of HHLA Real Estate. Founded in 1885 to build and run the largest and most modern complex of ware houses in the world, it is now the driving forces behind the transformation of the historical district into a modern part of the city. The Hamburg landmark Speicherstadt has been renovated in line with the principles of sustainability. In addition to stunning architecture, millions of visitors are drawn in by local cultural attractions such as “Miniatur Wunderland”. By the same token, a growing number of tenants from the media, culture and fashion industries are fi nding inspiration here. On the northern banks of the river Elbe, Fischmarkt Hamburg-Altona (FMH) also preserve part of the city’s fi shing tradition. The property is part of an intelligent site development concept.
