HALLOWEEN Good morning everyone. My name’s Alicia and I’d like to introduce my classmates Pablo, Rubén, Emilio and Alejandro. Our group is going to describe the project we worked on: Halloween. Today I’m going to talk about two traditions, Alejandro about Celts, Romans and Christian, Rubén will then talk about colours, and finally, Emilio about myths will finish with Pablo about three traditions. HALLOWEENGood morning everyone. My name’s Alicia and I’d like to introduce

Our group is going to describe the project we worked on: Halloween.

Today I’m going to talk about two traditions, Alejandro about Celts, Romans and Christian, Rubén will then talk about colours, and finally, Emilio about myths will finish with Pablo about three traditions.

Celts: It is one of oldest the celebrations, it comes form the harvest time. They call this festival Samhain; it was at the beginning of winter.

Romans: Romans merged this festival with, the Celts festival and Feralia, the Poloma celebrations.

Christianity: When Christianity came to England 1st November was dedicated to all Saints the with All Hallows Mass and the night before was All Hallows Eve, Hallowe’en, and then Halloween.

Colours

The colours of Halloween are orange and black.

Orange: Is the colour of the leaf fall and harvest. In its origins Halloween was a Celtic festival, wich symbolized the end of summer, and, therefore, the fall of the leaf.

Black: Is the most enigmatic and colour associate with fear and the unknown. In heraldry, black representing the pain and grief.

Myths Ringing a bell scares evil spirits.

If you see a spider on this night, could be the spirit of a dead

loved one watching you.

   To meet a witch, put your clothes inside out and walk

backwards on Halloween night.

3 Traditions Jack-o-lanterns or Pumpkin Lanterns: Hollowed out pumpkins

with a face. These are hollow the pumpkin and make a cut into one side.

Fire: In the old days people lit bonfires, to scare away evil spirits. They believed that light had power over darkness.

Apple Bobbing: Romans celebrated Pomona, the goddess of harvest. She was the goddess of the trees and fruits, and when the Romans came to Britain, they began to these two celebrate festivals on the same day as Samhain.

Dressing up: As ghosts come on this day to the world people believe that if they wear masks and dress up this night the can mistake them for fellow ghosts spirits.

Trick or Treat: It is a custom for children on Halloween in which they go from house to house in, costumes asking for treats such as sweets or sometimes money with the question, "Trick or treat?" You can either give the sweets or money or your house will receive eggs on it.
