PINK DAY CELEBRATION

“The good effect of pink kindles friendship, harmony and

affection.”

On 11th October, kindergarteners celebrated “Pink Day.” It was

wonderful to see our kids blossom in different shades of pink.

The young ones came dressed in different

hues and tints of pink. Children were excited

to learn that pink color could be made by

mixing red and white .

The tiny tots participated in various hands

on activities and made flamingo out of their

hand prints. Children were explained that

pink signifies love, beauty and kindness. All

the tiny tots with their beautiful attires,

plunged into the colouring and drawing activities bubbled with

enthusiasm and vigour. The blooming buds enjoyed a lot and

learnt the aesthetic sense of pink colour. It was indeed a visual

treat to witness little ones glowing and dancing in pink. Thus, the

ARTISTIC SKILLS AT DISPLAY

KG-I kiddos of BIS conducted the Origami Activity on 14th October.

Children participated in this creative venture with great zeal and high

spirits. The tiny tots were amazed to see transformation of

a flat square sheet into a finished sculpture through folding

and sculpting. Budding stars created exclusive shapes and

structures to showcase their finesse in paper craft. They

made a cat face and

displayed it with

great pleasure and

gratification. This

activity enhanced

their creative and

imagination skills.

Origami provided our little ones with wonderful

schematic learning through repeated instructions

and actions. As the teachers demonstrated, children

watched closely and listened carefully to the specific instructions and then executed the

instructions with originality, neatness and accuracy. The paper folding craft was not only a

fun filled experience, but it also proved to be a valuable means to develop artistic skills in

the young ones.

STORY ENACTMENT

Story-Telling is one of the ancient and time-tested

technique in developing listening and attention

skills in children. Story-telling also develops

imagination. Students learn to understand others

perspective in daily life, as they hear their friends

sharing their understanding on the stories. On 23rd

October an interactive story enactment was

performed by multi-talented teachers of Pre-Primary wing. They all dressed up to perform the story

of “The Blue Jackal” and students put their imagination to

visualize the scenes from the story. It was indeed a heart-

warming session to witness as the students came up with

so many values and morals from the story .The session

apparently enhanced the listening skills of the children. It

provided them with the necessary training to listen and

understand more.

in order to find out what we don’t know.”

Little hands and imagination came together in a

creative burst of energy when the KG-II students

participated in “Best out of Waste” activity. It was

aimed to bring them to understand the importance of

nature, not to waste and throw things. Students found it fascinating

that how the Popsicle sticks can be converted into a beautiful photo frame.

It was amazing to see how the scrap can be transformed into beautiful

artifacts. The creativity and

artistic streaks of the

students were observed

TEACHING WITH SIMPLIFIED TECHNOLOGY

ICT skills for teachers are self-directed learning. The effective

integration of ICT in the classroom can transform the pedagogy

and empower students. In this new age of learning, it is very

important that teachers should be able to

successfully weave technology into learning methodology of

the students. On 13th, October Educator Ms. Nishtha Sharma

presented her CPD on the topic “Teaching with Simplified

Technology.” She enlightened all the teachers about the usage

of interactive board and tools while teaching in the classes. She

further gave the demonstration on how usage of this smart

technology can enable students and teachers to make

teaching learning process an effective one. She showed all

the tools and applications of these tools to meet the

educational goals. However, nothing can replace a

confident teacher but these technologies can be used as a

tool rather than embedded part of learning process.

INTRODUCTORY AND BRIEFING SESSION - YLP

“One can’t learn to play the piano by reading books or listening to lectures, learning happens by putting

the instructions into practice”.

BIS has taken a new challenge for its students to inculcate the leadership quality in them. Youth

Leadership Program is an informal course in the arts of communication and leadership. BIS educators and senior most Toastmasters from ICAB TMC have come forward to help young pupils develop their communication and leadership skills. By participating, BIS scholars will face new challenges

and explore lots of opportunities.

The most interesting thing about the program is that the participants can play a dual role- speakers as well as evaluators also. This will help them to develop their self-confidence, organize and present their innovative ideas logically and convincingly.

On 27th October, the first meeting of this wonderful program was conducted at BIS.

NATIONAL UNITY DAY AT THE INDIAN EMBASSY Manpower without unity is not strength unless it is harmonized and united properly. The quote that

will stir our minds was said by none other than Sardar VallabhBhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas – National Unity Day, also the birth anniversary of Sardar

Vallabhbhai Patel, BIS students got a glorious chance to

perform a cultural program on the occasion of National

Unity Day at Indian Embassy, Bahrain.

BIS scholars Mahima Susan Thomas (Grade VIII) and

Steve Chalil Biju presented a speech on an era of the

freedom movement and to recapture the glimpses of the

life of SARDAR VALLABH BHAI PATEL.

Sardar Patel, born in a farmer’s family in 1875 in Gujarat,

was a man of courage and will power.

When British rule in India was absolutely disastrous for Indian Sub-continent, on any parameter that

we can use to gauge it : Literature, Religion, Harmony, Education, Economy, Science, Growth and even

the basic living, there was one man who saved India from being captured and conquered by the

dominant powers and the one man who understood the policies and tricks as played by Britishers.

Traditions and customs do define the cultural heritage of a country. These aspects bring out identity

and recognition amidst the vast rising

modernism. India is one state endorsed

with such rich cultures that are distinct in

language, dressing, and several activities.

Keeping this in mind, the young singers

(choir group BIS) performed a patriotic

song- Mera mulk mera desh mera Ye watan'

song. Through their melodious voice, the

true feeling of patriotism was beautifully

expressed and delineated.

FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK ‘ The greatest pleasure of writing is not what it's about, but the inner music the

words make.’ -Truman Capote.

In agreement with the above quote, the writing has the most valuable literary expression. The inculcation of passion for creativity amongst the students is one of the major objectives set by BIS. The works included in this edition are extremely simple but will surely provide an opportunity to peep into your child’s thought process and his or her axiomatic creative thinking. We are thankful to all the parents for your cooperation and immense support in acknowledging the hard work of the students and teachers who proved to be as catalysts in mobilizing the team work at BIS. This newsletter is the window to the activities conducted in the BIS family. Students are encouraged in various activities which make the years in school interesting and worth-remembering. Meet you all in the next month with more updates.

Thanks and Regards, Editorial Team (Students & Staff )
