Welcome to a thrilling new season at Half Moon Whether this is your first time at Half Moon or you are an old friend, we look forward to giving you a warm welcome and providing you with some amazing creative experiences across the coming year.

We pride ourselves on bringing a wide variety of quality theatre and innovative projects to the young people in our community and this year, as always, there is a lot to look forward to. Book now for our season of shows, including a new Half Moon play, Plum And Pickle, take advantage of the free tickets up for grabs for parents under 26 and their children, or sign someone you know up for one of Half Moon’s seven Youth Theatre groups. There is all of this and much, much more on offer, so dive into our new brochure and take a look.

Each year our small, dedicated team works hard to raise more than half of our turnover to support Half Moon’s various activities and keep our prices affordable for all. On top of this, and despite the uncertain economic climate, we are trying to raise extra funding to realise our plans to redevelop our building, improve facilities and make some urgent repairs. So if you know of an organisation or individual that may consider supporting Half Moon, do get in touch.

This is the final year of our major three year artform development project, Exchange For Change, funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. In 2011 the project is exploring creating new plays for audiences aged 8-12. We will work with a diverse range of artists whose efforts will be showcased at a festival day in the summer.

Over the previous two years of Exchange For Change new plays have been devised for teenagers and early years audiences and you can share in the successful results, as two of the plays for under 5s – Plum And Pickle (pg 17) and Rip, Fold, Scrunch (pg 19) – feature in this season.

Exchange For Change aims to create new exciting plays for young people that better represent the diversity of our contemporary society. It also strives to encourage artists and writers to turn their talents to the theatre for young people sector. What will happen this year?
