How to GLAM UP Hair fit for Runways Runway hairstyles can either make or break any fashion ensemble as models strut their way to the catwalk. Here are some general tips in keep-ing a chic runway hairstyle:

A healthy well-nourished hair is one of the most important requisites of a good hair design. Not only will the hair look good but dry and dull hair also makes it difficult for anyone to style it. You certainly would not want to completely damage your hair with all the heating and twisting it will have to go through. Elegant & Stylish FRONT KNOT looks great on RUNWAYS

or on any

Add volume to your hair. Flat hair cannot provide enough volume for hair design. What you can do is choose the right product to massage through your hair, blow dry, tease, and curl hair away from your face with the use of a curling iron.

Choose a hairstyle that completes the whole fashion look. Consider the theme of the fashion show, the bone structure of the model, and the design, texture, and element of the dress; to be worn and choose the right hair design. From front knot, chignons, braids, long ponytail, to the simplest freshly blowed-dry hair down look, what matters is that it completes the

way no matter what season.

Execute the design creatively and neatly. Models are not called model for nothing. They represent the epit-ome of grace and beauty as they introduce the latest trends of the season. With this, the hair design must match the creativity represented by their outfit. Put a twist in the usual hair design that you have chosen but execute it neatly.

A hairstyle that the ‘woman in the street’ will have no problem wearing. Do not overstyle. Though hair de-sign must be unique and creative, it still must be some-thing that any woman would have no problem wearing. Overdoing the design may also draw the whole attention away from the whole ensemble to just focus on the weird over-the-tops hairdo.

Secure the design. With all the chaos that is going to happen backstage, securing the hairstyle with the right hair product and accessories is certainly a must.

In addition to choosing the right makeup for a long awaited special occasion is making sure that the makeup stays on long enough until all the pho-tos are taken and it’s time to head home. Here are the tips to secure a makeup that will lasts on spe-cial occasions:

Exfoliate and Moisturize - Flaky skin and other skin impurities prevent any makeup product from being well absorbed and retained. However, be careful not to over moisturize and let the moistur-izer set in for at least 15 minutes before makeup application.

Don’t skip on the primer- The silicone on primers will smooth over your pores and the skin’s fine line to better prepare the skin to absorb the makeup and to even out the coverage. Primers will also prevent your skin from producing oil that will melt your makeup.

Consider your skin type - If you have an oily skin, choose oil-free products and try powder formulations. Skip moisturizing the T-Zone areas that tend to produce more oil. Dry skin will require more on the cream formulated products. Skin type will also help you consider the mixture of makeup you will need. In this case when having the makeup last long is an objective, use a mixture of both cream and powder as the cream will hold the powder and the powder will prevent the cream from fading.

Wear colors a shade darker- This will help reflect the true impact of your eyes and your skin when photo-graphed and it will eventually wear off by the hours into your desired shade.

Go waterproof on the Mascara and Eyeliner- The area surrounding the eyes is especially hard to keep smudge free from all the merriments of a special occasion so make sure to go waterproof on your mascara and eye-liner. Liquid and gel eyeliner are also known to last longer than pencil eyeliner. Also make sure to curl your lashes before putting the mascara.

Apply “long wear” lipsticks- There are already nu-merous lipsticks formulated to be long lasting so take advantage of it. This will save you from the trouble of having to reapply lipstick after the dinner and the drinks.

Keep a sheer, translucent loose powder or oil absorbing film strip on your bag- Good quality loose powder will hold your makeup even when you go work up a sweat and will especially keep your t-zone areas shine free. Dub on some powder when needed or bring an oil absorbing film strip to keep you shine free and beautiful all throughout the occa-sion.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT HAIRSTYLE AND MAKEUP FOR A GALA AND SPECIAL EVENT

Pick out a dress then decide. Decide on the over-

all look of you want to achieve with consideration to the theme or objective of the event you will be attending. Hairstyle must compliment well with the dress. Consider the neckline, texture, length, and overall design of the dress be-fore deciding on the right hairstyle.

Color of the dress must compliment well with the makeup to achieve the perfect look. Level up from your day to day hairstyle/makeup to a

more glamorous and elegant hairstyle and makeup. These are the only limited occasions where you have the chance to go out of your way and look as gorgeous and glamorous as any Hollywood star or royalty so why wear a sophisticated hairstyle and makeup that you may not be able to wear on ordinary days. If you are not confident you can manage to do it yourself, hire a professional stylist. A gala or any special events are very rare times worth of a little splurge.

Choosing right hair & makeup style…

Always have the right balance However, it is also important to remember that your hairstyle or makeup should not be too ex-travagant taking the attention away from the dress or any other elements of your ensemble. If you decide on wearing a head dress, be very careful that it would not overpower your whole look. Consider the venue of the gala or the spe-cial event

If the event is going to be held on a ferry boat you certainly would want a hairstyle that could survive a little wind. Consider the hairstyle suited for the venue.

Consider the time of the event—Since gala events usually take place during the eve-ning, so gala events usually requires a more dramatic evening makeup. Events during day time require lighter day makeup.

On Hairstyling Gala events usually calls for more delicate and elegantly made hairstyles, so getting a professional hairstylist should be considered. However, if you wish to style your hair on your own, there are always instructions on easy to make do-it -yourself hair bun, braids, chignon, and other updo’s, available on the internet. Use strengtheners to make your hair tresses as smooth as possible and always have a curling iron and other styl-ing hair products and tools available to create long lasting and well executed waves and curls. Secure the whole hairdo with adequate hairspray. Apply smoothing serum to the tresses and curls of your hair to contain flyaways and to add extra shine.

On Makeup Since gala events usually take place during the evening, a dramatic evening make-up is best suited for the event. Dim lightings call for a more noticeable makeup than that used during the day at school or at work. To achieve a great makeup for a gala event, here are a few easy tips:

Put on a natural-finished looking makeup foundation and blush

Always use eyeliner and mascara to put more definition to your eyes. Note that false eyelashes can never be too tacky during gala events.

Apply eye shadow. It can either be smoky, glittery, and metallic or what-ever you prefer. If you are not all for heavy smoky eyes, you may try the metallic gray lids by putting black eyeliner on the top of your eye-lids and smudging metallic gray eye shadow up to the crease. Glit-tery eye shadow in the right amount works wonderfully for elegant gala events.

If you choose to wear a heavy dark eye shadow placing the focal point at the eye area, go for a glossy, neutral lipstick that compliments well with your skin tone. Minimal color for eye makeup calls for lip colors that are more vibrant such as bold red or any deep shade that will look good on your natural skin color.

If for some reason, you want to keep makeup to a minimal, you can al-ways go for a lightweight powder or lotion based foundation and a delicately tinted lip stain.
