END OF THE YEAR BASH

Thank you to the Student Programming Board for coordinating the

PSYCHOLOGY MOVIE NIGHT WITH YORK COLLEGE OF PA

On April 21st James Schadewald (Psychology

Department) held an event with York College of

Pennsylvania’s Psychology department. The

film Compliance was shown with a discussion

led afterward by an YCP faculty member. When

planning the event they were expecting a

maximum of 30 students but had over 50

students attend the event. One of the YCP staff

commented that they were amazed at the quality

of thought provoking and insightful questions

our students asked. We are excited to be offering

future topics and presentations with YCPs psychology department. Special thanks to Dr. Jester (Psychology

Harrisburg Campus) and Dr. Mattis who were instrumental in making this program a success.

FULL TIME FACULTY NEWS

We are thrilled to share that our very own Jody Newcomer has accepted the

full-time tenure-track Communications faculty position, to begin in August

2016.

Jody completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Bloomsburg

University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and a

master’s degree in Communication Studies.

Prior to her time at HACC, Jody was an adjunct instructor for 16.5 years at

York College. She also taught part-time at The Art Institute of York, Penn

State York, and Penn State Hazelton.

Jody started at HACC in 2012, as an adjunct lecturer in the Communications

discipline. She is completing a year as a full-time temporary faculty member.

In addition to her teaching duties, she serves on the HACC Con Committee as

well as various departmental/discipline assessment committees.

When not at work, Jody enjoys spending time with her family, helping her husband run the family business, and

conducting a variety of communications seminars. She loves to travel; write; engage in outdoor activities; and

keep in touch with her Up With People cast members, who reside all over the world.

Join us in congratulating Jody on her new position!

WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED

During the rainy month of April, members of the York Campus

Community Service Club handed out nearly 60 umbrellas to students

who were walking from building to building in the pouring rain. Each

student was told to use their umbrella as long as they needed but to

pass it along to someone when they no longer had use for it.

Attached to each umbrella was a tag that read, “Courtesy of the York

Campus Community Service Club – We’ve got you covered!”

MANY THANKS FROM THE

WHITE ROSE JOURNAL

WM PENN STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Many thanks for your support of the White Rose

Journal book sale, which helps to fund the

publication of our annual campus literary

journal. The sale was held over a span of two full

days. With your help we were able to raise 335.05!

We appreciate the donations, the purchases, the

manpower to get the books moved and set up, and,

of course, the continued support you have given

our student publication. Please remember this

you are ready to part with over the next year. We

cannot have a successful book sale without all of

the wonderful donations!
