What is the HACC Cohort?

• Students can take college classes in local high schools to earn college credits at a discounted rate.

• Big Spring, Carlisle, Cumberland Valley, East Pennsboro, Mechanicsburg, Northern York, Shippensburg, South Middleton, and West Shore.

• During your Junior and Senior year, you would take classes during Period 1 and 2 at local high schools AND online.

What is the HACC Cohort?

• Credits would transfer to all PASSHE schools and potentially other colleges as well

• Each HACC credit is discounted to $50.00, normally costing $200 each (which is significantly less than most 4 year colleges)

• For $800.00 total, students could earn up to 16 college credits next year, while still finishing high school

What Classes Will Be Offered?

• Fall 2015– World History 1 3 Credits– Principles of Accounting 4 Credits

• Spring 2016– World History 2 3 Credits– English Composition 3 Credits– Principles of Marketing 3 Credits

--------16 Credits

*These classes count toward graduation, but do not factor into your GPA

What Does a Schedule Look Like?

Day Course Location Staff Time

Monday Online work Home or EP Multiple 8:00 am

Tuesday Intro to Accounting (4cr) CV Mrs. Hayes – CV teacher 7:15-8:45

Wednesday World History 1 (3 cr) Carlisle Ms. Whitmoyer – Big Spring 7:15-8:45

Thursday Online work Home or EP Multiple 8:00 am

Friday Online work Home or EP Multiple 8:00 am

On Tuesday and Wednesday, students would be expected to arrive at school as soon as class is over (during Period 2).

While no class would be scheduled for Period 2, students could use this time to complete online work in the library.

Who is Eligible for the HACC Cohort?

• 90% GPA or better

• Completion of a minimum of 15 credits

• Score Proficient/Advanced on Keystone exam(s)

• Must apply to and be accepted by HACC

Who is Eligible for the HACC Cohort?

Only 2-6 students will be accepted into this program for next year from East Pennsboro.

How Do I Apply?

• Schedule an Appointment with Your School Counselor

• Apply to HACC’s College in the High School (CHS) Program on Their Website

• Take HACC Placement Tests in Reading, Writing, and Math

• Students will be selected based on:– Passing the Placement Tests– Class Rank

• Schedule an appointment with your School Counselor

Deadline: Friday, May 8th

You don’t need to have your application finished or your placement testing done by May 8th,but your School Counselor MUST get a commitment from you that you plan to do so.
