Full day programs include 1-2 assemblies followed by classroom visits to learn about and illustrate habitat posters, plus a book signing with author-illustrator, Sheri Amsel. Habitats of the World Visit deserts, grasslands, mountains and rainforests and learn about each habitat’s animals, adaptations, life cycles and food webs. Each 1-hour assembly features illustrations from the Habitats of the World book series by Sheri Amsel, plus special photos of rare and endangered animals from around the world, including a trip down the Amazon River in search of the mysterious pink dolphin. Both assemblies also show how the author creates her book illustrations from photos taken at zoos and wild habitats around the world. K-6 programs receive 2 assemblies (K-2 and 3-6) followed by three 30-minute classroom sessions. Programs targeting smaller groups (one grade level) can receive one assembly plus 4-5 classroom sessions. Each visit includes a book sale and signing offering several of the author’s books at special discounted prices. All students receive bookmarks. Cost for a full day program is $750 plus travel expenses. Several area schools can arrange for week long residencies to split travel costs.
