HABITAT PROJECT Due Date: _______________________ WHAT IS THIS PROJECT ABOUT? We have been studying habitats in GEORGIA. Your student is asked to gather all the materials they will need to successfully create a detailed habitat project. #1 Select your project: • Diorama • Poster • PowerPoint Diorama – You will need: • 1 shoebox • Paper or materials to cover the box that matches your habitat choice • Crayons, markers, scissors, glue, pencil (any school supplies) • Animals or pictures of animals that live in your habitat • Index cards or notebook paper for report Poster – You will need: • I standard size sheet of Poster board paper – any color • Crayons, markers, scissors, glue, pencil (any school supplies) • Animals or pictures of animals that live in your habitat • Index cards or notebook paper for report PowerPoint – You will need: • Computer/PowerPoint Software • Index cards or notebook paper for report
The following questions should be answered in your project: • What is the name of the
habitat? • Where is the habitat
located? • What plants live in this
habitat? • What animals live in
this habitat? • What type soil does this
habitat have? • What are the
geographical formations in this habitat?
• What are some interesting facts about this habitat?
• How do you think man impacted the habitat?
(Pollution, Housing, etc.)
#3 TO DO LIST: 1. Choose a habitat that interests you. 2. Students must include the name and
location(s) of the habitat somewhere on the project.
3. The shoebox/poster/PowerPoint should be decorated to match the natural habitat.
4. Draw/print pictures of 3 different animals that live in your habitat . Include its water source, shelter, and food source. (You will have to know these during your presentation)
5. Draw or print pictures of 3 different plants that live in your habit.
6. Please use the rubric to make sure you include all necessary items.
7. Be prepared to present your project. You should record this information on notebook paper or index cards.
