Powell County needs your help. If you have a great time at the fair and want to be more involved

now is the perfect time to volunteer and enjoy our county fair at the same time!

We need volunteers to work Monday September 11th entering exhibits & helping judges. This will

be from 9 a.m. until 8-9 p.m. No need to work the entire time, even an hour or two is appreciated.

More volunteer opportunities coming up as the Powell County Fair gets closer as well.

If you are interested please give us a call at the

Extension Office using the number below to sign up!

(606) 663-6405

Let’s start with the State Fair. The Kentucky State Fair hosts 4-H projects in 18 divisions from across

the state in a place where 4-H'ers can showcase their projects called Cloverville. In order to

exhibit a 4-H project in Cloverville, 4-H'ers must first compete in their county fair and be selected

to advance to the Kentucky State Fair. You are probably thinking “That’s great, but why should I

enter anything into the Powell County Fair?” For starters, you get to show off your talents. Maybe

you have a green thumb and grow the best looking tomatoes around, perhaps you’re the shutter-

bug of the family, or you just might give famous bakers a run for their money. That cutting board

your Grandfather taught you how to make? It can be entered too, as well as that quilt you worked

on last winter with your Grandmother. Oh and did I mention that you WILL win a cash prize just for

entering projects? That’s right, every entry receives a ribbon (1st, 2nd or 3rd), every ribbon has a

cash value and to top it all off — you just may be the one selected and given the opportunity to go

to State Fair next year with your exhibit next year! But most importantly by entering your piece in-

to the Powell County Fair, you will get the chance to show the people of Powell County and every-

one who stops by the Exhibit Hall all the great talent that the youth of our community has!

So Check out the categories, pick some projects, fill out the form and bring it on over to start the

fun!
