Horizon Land Services was founded in 1997 by three independently successful, accomplished title company veterans; Mindy Simon, Fern Epstein and Susan May-McLean. They combined their technical and real estate backgrounds and experience to create a full-service title, escrow/abstract company now employing over 40 professionals, with offices in New York City and Bridgehampton.

Horizon has been recognized for its high level of service and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a smooth transaction. Horizon boasts an impressive client roster of commercial and residential real estate professionals and has received tremendous support from high profile title insurance companies. Horizon has made agency agreements with Fidelity National Title Insurance Company, Chicago Title Insurance Company, Stewart Title Insurance Company, First American Title Insurance Company of New York and Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company.

Since its’ inception, Horizon has evolved into a multi-faceted company offering a full range of services including in-house counsel and a national department. In addition, Horizon has secured its certifications with New York State, New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County and various other organizations as a Minority/Woman Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) to work with city, county and state organizations who are encouraged to offer a percentage of their real estate transactions to qualified companies.

HORIZON IS…..

Horizon’s in-house Counsel, Mario Lan, is a 10 year veteran

in the title industry. Mario offers broad experience and perspectve at both the underwrtier and agency levels. From 1997 to 2002, Mario served as Counsel at First American Title Insurance Company’s New York City Branch Office. He cleared files covering complex multi-million dollar commercial transactions involving in-state as well as out-of-state lenders, purchasers and sellers and their legal representatives.

Mario prepared educational presentations for the Company’s in-house counsel on a wide

array of topics, including Condominium Law and the applicability of the Hill-Burton Act to real estate transactions involving current or past medical facilities. His “Introduction to Title Insurance” presentation has been offered at several law firms in the metropolitan area. Mario joined

Horizon Land Services in November of 2002 where he serves as In-House Counsel. He received his

B.A. from Hunter College, an M.A. in Government from New York University and his J.D. from New

York University School of Law.

Our in-house National Department oversees our nationwide affiliates and offers expeditious handling of your real estate transactions pursuant to the various

states‘ regulations. Special detail is paid to multi-site transactions and thecoordination of all requirements within the numerous states and/or sites.

NATIONAL DEPARTMENT

Our National Department is managed by David Smedley whose experience in handling transactions outside of New York state spans over ten years. David's experience has not only gained him the knowledge of the various states' rules and regulations but has enabled him to work with our nationwide affiliates directly from application to finish ensuring a smooth and stress-free process for you.

Horizon Land Services is proud to have built relationships with many governmental agencies throughout the State of New York by providing them with various searches needed in property acquisition and subsequent management. These informational searches include foreclosure searches, last owner searches, complete title searches providing a full chain of title, and informative searches as to specific encumbrances, restrictions and/or covenants and easements for the subject property. We understand the time constraints and regulations governing State and City agencies and help them to achieve their targeted deadlines accordingly.
