Educational Consultant: Jackie Drummer, an educational consultant, was commissioned to evaluate specific

components of the HASD GATE plan. On October 26th, 2009, she traveled to each school and met with nineteen focus groups. Jackie interviewed approximately 80 people: parents, students, teachers, administrators, GATE staff and Board members.

Acknowledgements: “Evidence from both the documents and from focus groups indicates that there are

options and services that meet the mission and philosophy of the HASD GATE program, especially in the academic and intellectual areas.”

Recommendations: Train HHS staff in characteristics of gifted learners, gifted education pedagogy, and in

using assessments to plan and provide differentiated instruction

Why an elementary science fair? The ability to solve present and future

problems depends on our ability to question the world in new and

creative ways.

We need to teach our children how to learn, locate resources, problem

solve, think critically and communicate effectively.

The best thing was philosophy. To me thinking about the questions you can’t answer and making a logical answer is a very good skill. –
