Hand Washing Social Story

Sometimes my hands get dirty

My hands can get dirty when Iplay with my toys

My hands can get dirty when Iplay outside

My hands can get dirty when I play with my friends

I can clean my hands with soapand water

Clean hands help preventspreading germs
I can help keep germs off of
my body by washing myhands

To clean my hands I turn on warm water
WWW.AUTISM.ORG
Next I get my hands wet
under the water
WWW.AUTISM.ORG
Then I put soap
on my hands
WWW.AUTISM.ORG
I need to rub the soap all over my hands,
wrists and in-between my fingers
While I do this,
I can sing a song like"Happy Birthday"
two times

Next I wash the soap off
WWW.AUTISM.ORG
When I am doneI turn the water off
WWW.AUTISM.ORG
Last, I dry my clean hands
with a clean towel

I'm done! Now I get to do
a fun activity
