“Being a Catholic in Today’s Society”

Tuesday, Jan. 21 John has been member of the Legatus Lincoln Chapter for almost 10 years. He currently serves this community and region as the CEO of Bryan Medical Center and Exec. VP of Bryan Health. He and his wife Jeannie have two boys and they are members of St. Peter’s Parish. John is a 4th degree Knight, serves on the Stewardship Council of St. Peter’s Parish and is a past President of our Legatus Chapter. John and Jeannie focus as a family on continuing to work toward getting each member to heaven.

Nebraska native Bish-op Joseph G. Hanefeldt, was ordained and installed as eighth bishop for the Diocese of Grand Island in 2015. He received an STB in The-ology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 1983, and was ordained to the priesthood at St. Ludger in Creighton on July 14, 1984. In 2007, Bishop Hanefeldt returned to Rome, and served as spiritual director at the Pontifical North American College.

Tuesday, Mar. 17 Casting Nets Ministries, a non-profit lay apostolate, is a refreshing look at evange-lization and catechesis. Casting Nets is dedicated to the challenge of the New Evangelization. Their ministry is to be a resource for individuals, organiza-tions, and parishes who want to answer the chal-lenge of the New Evangeli-zation. Tony Brandt and Chris Stewart have over 40 combined years of experi-ence in almost every level and form of ministry, from the youth to college, and from RCIA to adult for-mation.

DR. JENNIFER ROBAK MORSE

“Dr J's 31/2 Step Plan for Healing the Church and the

Culture.”

Tuesday, Apr. 21 Dr. Morse is the founder of The Ruth Institute, a global non-profit organization equipping Christians to defend the family and build a Civilization of Love.

She has authored or co-authored six books and spoken around the globe. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Rochester and taught economics at Yale and George Mason Universities.

Dr. Morse was named one of the “Catholic Stars of 2013,” on a list that included Pope Francis and Pope Benedict XVI.

CLOISTERS ON THE PLATTE

A Lincoln Legatus Pilgrimage

Tuesday, May 19 Join us on this excursion to the Cloisters on the Platte Retreat Center south of Gretna, NE. You’ll want to block out extra time on your calendar for this event so you can take part in all the activities.

We’ll be boarding a chartered bus in Lincoln around 3:30. Once at the Cloisters, we’ll walk the life-size Stations of the C r o s s w i t h a u d i o meditations. We’ll hold our Legatus Mass in the beautiful chapel on the campus, then enjoy social time and dinner. At the end of the evening, we’ll re-board the bus to bring us back to Lincoln.

FR. JUSTIN WYLIE

“Reflections on my UN Experience”

Tuesday, July 21 Fr. Wylie is the Rector of the Cathedral in the Diocese of Lincoln. He previously represented the Holy See at the United Nations. Formerly an attorney, Wylie served in the Off ice of the Prosecutor of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague and hails from his native South Africa. Fr. Wylie was on the staff of the Vatican Permanent Observer Mission at the United Nations in New York. The Mission’s charge is to “communicate the centuries’ experience of the Catholic Church ... to assist [the UN] in its realization of peace, justice, human dignity and humanitarian cooperation and assistance.”

It all began on June 21, 2005 when the Lincoln Chapter of Legatus was Chartered. We will be celebrating our 15th Anniversary as a Chapter during our annual summer social. Our members really enjoy our social events — it gives us time to visit and get to know each other better. This will be a celebration you won’t want to miss.

KELVIN COCHRAN

“The Blessings of Suffering”

An Invitation from the

Omaha Chapter WEDNESDAY, Aug. 12 We’ll be chartering a bus to Omaha to join their Legatus Chapter for this event. Kelvin Cochran is an author and public speaker. He began his career as a firefighter, and worked his way up the ranks of the Shreveport and Atlanta Fire Departments. In August 2009 he was appointed by President Barack Obama to head the United States Fire Administration. Kelvin made national headlines when he was suspended without pay over a self-published book he wrote in which Cochran deals with a Biblical view of marriage, adultery and homosexual ity. After r e tu r n in g f r o m h i s suspension, Cochran was informed that he would have to resign or be terminated.
