Gurla M andhata. A Viennese student, H erbert Tichy, dis­guised as an Indian pilgrim with two Indian friends and K itar, a porter of the last N anga Parbat expedition, made a trip to the holy mountain, Kailas, and attem pted the climb of G urla M andhata (25,000 f t.) with the porter K itar. They reached height of 23,400 ft. where they were tu rned back by new snow and bad weather.
