Principal’s Report
100 Days of Learning Last Wednesday we celebrated ‘100 Days of Learning’ at
school with some wonderful activities for our
Kindergarten students. To celebrate this occasion
students enjoyed making a 100 Days Smarter crown,
threading necklaces with 100 pieces of cereal, making
towers with 100 cups and other fun tasks based on the
number ‘one hundred’. This was a fantastic milestone to
celebrate and we look forward to seeing how the
students make progress with their learning in the next
100 days!
Athletics Carnival On Tuesday we held our Athletics Carnival for 3-6
students at school. Despite the overcast weather, all
students competed with enthusiasm, encouragement and
competitive spirit.
Congratulations to Miss Wild for all her hard work in
organising the fabulous day and to the staff who helped
with setting up in the morning. We will be sending a team
of students off on Monday and Tuesday of Week 7 this
term, for the Zone Track and Field events Carnival. We
wish these students the best of luck at the next level.
Tomorrow, we look forward to watching our K-2 students
compete in their athletics carnival. We hope they also
have a wonderful day.
Spelling Bee On Monday we held the finals of the school Spelling Bee,
with stage finalists competing against each other to find
first and second place in both Stage 2 and Stage 3. All
students did very well to spell some very tricky words as
they progressed through various levels and should feel
extremely proud of their efforts. The winners of the
competition were as follows:
Stage 2 – Indeey-Lee K (First) and Samuel L (Second)
Stage 3 – Noah T (First) and Jodeci T (Second)
These students will go on to represent Guise PS at the
Regional Spelling Bee in a few weeks and we wish them all
the best in the next stage of this competition.
NSW Government School Community Charter The NSW Department of Education has introduced a School
Community Charter for all members of NSW Public School
communities. It has been developed in consultation with a
wide range of stakeholders.
The School Community Charter outlines the responsibilities
of parents, carers, educators and school staff in NSW
public schools to ensure our learning environments are
collaborative, supportive and cohesive.
The School Community Charter informs parents and carers
on how to engage with NSW Public Schools and outlines how
important it is to create a positive learning environment for
our students. In all workplaces people have the right to feel
respected. Unacceptable and offensive behaviour has no
place in our school communities.
A complete copy of the School Community Charter has been
included later in this newsletter, for all parents and carers
to read.
Education Week Next week is Education Week and we invite families to our
open day on Tuesday 6 August, from 9.15-11.30am.
Activities will include an assembly, open classrooms and
morning tea for parents and carers. This year’s theme is
Every student, every voice. It is a celebration of student
empowerment and how the NSW public education system
gives students the skills they need in order to have and
express a voice during their own educational journey and as
engaged global citizens. We are looking forward to seeing
many parents/carers attending our open day and sharing in
learning during Education Week.
Have a wonderful week!
