Guidelines to avoid banned substances in common medicines. Acceptable Medication (Not banned): Paracetamol. All Panadol products (Panadol extra, Advance and Actifast)- Contain Paracetamol & Caffeine. Ibuprofen. Neurofen and Neurofen Plus- Contain Ibuprofen and Codeine. All Anti-inflammatories. Eg- Diclofenac/Voltarol, Naproxen, Brufen. All Antibiotics. Night Nurse- Contains Paracetamol /promethazine/ Pholcodiene/ Dextromethorphan. Lemsip products (All allowed EXCEPT Lemsip Max Flu Lemon which contains Pseudoephedrine). Most common Vitamin Supplements. Most common Build up supplements and protein Shakes- EXCEPT if contain methylhexaneamine. Ventolin inhalers (try to avoid ventolin nebulisers). Serevent Inhaler. Corticosteroid inhalers. Eg- Becotide, Flixotide, Seretide (use Minimum effective doses). Corticosteroid Nasal Sprays. Eg- Flixonase, Nasonex,Beconase, Rhinocort aqua & Avamys (Use Minimum effective doses). Antihistamines/ Anti allergy meds. Eg- Clarityn, Neoclarityn, Xyzal, Cetirizine, Fexofenadine. Rinatec and Rhinolast and Octrivine Nasal Sprays (Used for Rhinitis) Caffeine & Alcohol. Not Acceptable Medication (Banned): *Neurofen Cold and Flu. *Lemsip Max Flu lemon (also known as Pharmacy only Lemsip). *Day Nurse. *Sudafed. Corticosteriods. eg- Prednisolone, Dexamethasone (oral or intramuscular or intravenous). Insulin. All Diuretics/ Water Tablets. Eg- Furosemide, co-amilofruse, Bumetamide, torasemide, Bendrofluazide, spironolactone. Bricanyl Inhaler. Adrenaline, Ephedrine (oral, iv, im or nasal drops or sprays). *Contain pseudoephedrine which is banned in-competition time only. Therefore avoid at all time when possible, but take if absolutely required except for 24 hours before a game. Lemsip products should be avoided where possible as they contain phenylephedrine which is on WADA’s monitoringprogramme and will probably be banned in future. However, these are not banned at present and can be used if necessary - EXCEPT* Lemsip Max Fly Lemon which is banned. Additional Notes: In cases of a medical emergency NO treatment should be avoided. A back dated application can be made to UEFA to exempt the player from having taken these banned medicines for urgent medical reasons. Players requiring to take banned drugs for medical reasons must inform your team Doctor or the GFA medical Dept via your club representatives. Guidelines to avoid banned substances in common medicines.

Acceptable Medication (Not banned):

Paracetamol.
