SPASLas Vegas has assembled a collection of the finest
spas, treatments, salons and big-name stylists to help
soothe away your other life. Some highlights include
the Arctic Ice Room at Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars
Palace, where falling snow is meant to relieve stress.
The Drift Spa at Palms Place introduces the Turkish
hammam – a traditional gathering place for ritualised
cleansing and relaxation. Another unique option is
The Spa at ARIA. There you’ll find one of the only
Japanese stone sauna “ganbanyoku” beds in the
country. If you’re into nature, The Red Rock Spa lets
you combine the exhilaration of rafting, mountain
biking, horseback riding and conquering mountains
with the supreme relaxation of over 3,000 square
metres of tranquil, luxurious spa space.
WEDDINGSFor the ceremony of a lifetime and a honeymoon
that will be the time of your life, nobody does it
better than the wedding capital of the world, Las
Vegas. More than 78,000 couples obtain marriage
licenses each year in Las Vegas, making it a popular
destination for weddings. Whether you’re planning
an intimate affair for a few family members and
friends, or reciting your vows while bungee jumping
from a hot-air balloon, you’re only limited by your
imagination. Or choose from several dozen
full-service wedding chapels.
DOWNTOWN LAS VEGASThe downtown area is filled with classic casinos and
delicious restaurants. The Fremont East Entertain-
ment District, located in the heart of downtown, sits
adjacent to the popular tourist attraction called
Fremont Street Experience. Fremont East Entertain-
ment District is an area that offers comedy clubs,
blues and jazz nightclubs, and other musical
entertainment venues.
LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREAThe Northshore Drive of Lake Mead National
Recreation Area, Highway 167, can be reached by
travelling highways 147 or 166. Created by the
building of Hoover Dam in 1935, Lake Mead is the
largest man-made lake in the United States. Fed by
the Colorado River, boating and other water
recreation sports are available year-round. Hoover
Dam, named one of the top 10 construction
achievements of the 20th century, is the highest
concrete dam in the western hemisphere. Tours
include the rustic history of this man-made wonder.
MUSEUMSBeyond the neon, Las Vegas offers a diverse mix of
fascinating cultural and civic attractions, as well as
several interesting museums. You can travel back in
time and learn about ancient civilizations, pet a
dolphin or see representations of life-size dinosaurs
on display. Children of all ages can enjoy hands-on
interactive science exhibits. You can learn about
everything from local plants and wildlife at the
Springs Preserve to some local history at The Mob
Museum downtown.
MOUNT CHARLESTON & LEE CANYONLocated 68 kilometres from Las Vegas in the Spring
Mountains, Mount Charleston is an evergreen island
in the Mojave Desert. Its peak reaches over 3600
metres into the Southern Nevada sky. The lower
foothills are covered with pinyon pine and juniper;
then comes the ponderosa pines and quaking aspen
as the elevation increases. The Native Americans
used this area to spend their summers, escaping the
heat in the valleys below. The Spring
Mountain/Mount Charleston area is home to Rocky
Mountain elk, desert bighorn sheep, mule deer, wild
Nevada mustangs and a variety of other wildlife.
There are numerous hiking trails in the Mount
Charleston area. Like Mount Charleston, Lee Canyon
is located in the Toiyabe National Forest, offering
snow skiing in the winter months and sightseeing
and hiking in the summer and fall.
GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK Vast, majestic, beautiful and the Gateway to the
National Parks, the Grand Canyon is one of this
country’s - and the world’s - most recognisable
landmarks. It stretches 446 kilometres from end to
end. Red, rocky walls descend more than a
kilometre to the canyon’s floor, where the majestic
Colorado River carves out a raging southwest
course. Most ground tours take you to the Grand
Canyon’s main entrance on the South Rim, while
others will take you to the North Rim. Its western
edge, home to Havasupai Falls and the town of
Supai, is also accessible via roads on the Hualapai
Indian Reservation. About five million people see the
kilometre-deep canyon every year, many of them on
guided tours, and Grand Canyon National Park has
established itself as one of the world’s greatest
natural attractions.
