This masterpiece of the early Romanesque architecture was the novitiate for St Pierre’s Abbey in Chalon. The beautiful and tall tower bell overlooks a vast clearing where the priory and the village were built. Its sloping basis and its decoration in walled arches make of this church an exceptional edifice. The three naves and their huge cylindrical columns are similar to those in St Philibert Abbey in Tournus. This church is the best illustration today of Cluny II, now disappeared.

Site Clunysien.
This village was a priory of Cluny. The church is of two periods : The chancel and the transept date from around 1100 and the naves and the bell tower date from around 1150.Inside,in the apse and transept, there is a great feeling of space.
(hamlet of Malay). The remarkable church of the beginning of the XIIth century, has possibly been influenced by the Cisterian Abbey of La Ferté;A vaulted nave, a very simple apse, an elegant bell tower spire in stone make up this edifice. Inside, very precious paintings from the end of the XIIth century are to be seen. One can notice St Philibert’s Medaillon ; unique proof of the work of a painting workshop of the abbey of Cluny, a more recent workshop than the one in the Chapelle aux Moines.
