Comparedtomen,womenprefertovacationwithafriendoveraspouse.Toronto,ON(July21,2010)–While71%ofCanadianstakeavacationtorelaxanddisconnectfromtheirday-to-daylives,theunfortunaterealityisjustasmanyofthem(72%)experiencesomeformofstressplanningtheirholidays.TheCapitalOneAspireTravelSurvey(www.capitalone.ca)foundthatthree-quartersofwomen(76%)saythey'vefeltsomestresswhenplanningavacationcomparedwithonly68%ofmen.Surprisingly,thesurveyfoundthatstresslevelsappeartogoupforpeopleinhigherincomebrackets.Onaverage,75%ofCanadianswithanannualincomeover$50,000havemorestresswhenplanningavacationthanCanadianswhoearnunder$50,000(69%).

SURVEY FINDS NEW CANADIANS KNOW MORE ABOUT ESTABLISHING CREDIT
SurveyidentifiesfinancialknowledgegapsandasubsetofnewCanadianswhomayfacegreaterfinancialobstacles.Toronto,ON(November16,2010)–AnewsurveycommissionedonbehalfofCreditCanadaandCapitalOneCanadafoundsurprisingdifferencesinfinancialknowledgebetweenCanadianswhowerebornhereandnewcomerstothecountry.Whilethegeneralpopulationhasafinancialliteracyedge,interestingly,theresultsshowthatnewcomersaremorefamiliarwithcreditscoresthanthegeneralpopulation.65percentofnewcomerswhohavebeeninthecountryforfiveyearsorlessand74percentofthosewho'vebeeninthecountryforsixtotenyearsreportthattheyknowenoughtomakegooddecisionsabouttheircreditscore,comparedtojustoverhalf(52percent)ofthegeneralpopulation.Thesurveyresultsalsoshowthat,asindividuals'financialknowledgeandfamiliaritywiththeCanadianbankingsystemimprove,theirperceptionsabouttheirpersonalfinancesimproveaswell.Infact,Canadiannewcomerswhohavebeeninthecountryforsixtotenyearsaresignificantlymorepositiveabouttheirfinancesthanthegeneralpopulation,with75percentofthesenewcomersreportingtheirfinancesaregoodtoverygoodcomparedto69percentofthegeneralpopulation."OursurveyalsoidentifiedaspecificsubsetofnewCanadians–themajorityofwhomarelow-to-moderateincomewomen–whoreporttheirfinancialsituationas"poor"andsaythattheyhavedifficultyaccessingcredit.Thedatashowsthattheyarealsomorefrequentvictimsoffinancialfraud,"saidLaurieCampbell,executivedirector,CreditCanada.
