Groups Fair 2016 Monday 5th September
Malvern Theatres – The Forum 10:00 – 12:00
Renewal details on Page 3
This is your reference for group information. Updates will feature in the Monthly News Bulletin
1
Here is the new (2016-2017) Groups directory which we hope you will keep as a reference and reminder of what is available in Malvern U3A. Malvern U3A has a wide range of groups, to meet varied interests – arts and creative pastimes, languages, sciences, philosophy, travel, outdoor activities and indoor games. Some groups are new this year, such as Botany which started this summer: some have been going for many years. We hope you’ll find something to suit you – and perhaps you might like to challenge yourself and try something completely new? If an existing group is full, please let the Trustees know of your interest and ask the group leader to put you on their waiting list. I hope you have an enjoyable and interesting year in whatever groups you join. Pam Stanier Chair Some dates for your diary........

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL The annual fee for the year 1st September 2016 to 31st August 2017 remains at £12. The vast majority of our 1400 members have email addresses and should have received an email from me on how to renew online. Nearly 500 members have successfully used this facility since it was brought in last year. I do urge everyone with a computer to use this convenient method of renewing. You will receive your 2016/17 membership card electronically for you to print off. For those members who have not provided email addresses a renewal form is enclosed with this year’s Groups’ Directory. Please return this form to me with your cheque and stamped self-addressed envelope, and I will post you your 2016/17 membership card. It will of course be possible to renew membership at the U3A Groups Fair at Malvern Theatre on 5 September, but by joining in advance you will avoid the queues and have more time to explore the Group stalls and enrol. If you do wish to renew at the Groups’ Fair, you will need to bring your 2015-16 membership card with you. You will need to show your 2016/17 membership cards to Group Leaders to indicate that you have paid for this coming year. If you wish to receive the National U3A Magazine, Third Age Matters, please tick the box on the form/web page and include £2, which covers 5 issues from April 2017 to February 2018. If you are eligible, please don’t forget to Gift Aid your subscription as this provides Malvern U3A with valuable extra income. Your continued support of Malvern U3A is greatly appreciated and has allowed the organisation to continue to flourish, but do please let me know if you don’t wish to renew. Robin Clarke Membership Secretary NEW GROUPS If you would like to set up a new group click on the GROUPS tab on the Malvern U3A website for details, or contact the Groups Coordinator by email at [email protected] or you can find contact details on Page 35.

DRAMA GROUP
The Cube
1st and 3rd Monday
2.00-4.00pm
The intention is that the Drama group will not put members under any pressure
to learn lines or perform to an audience but will provide an opportunity to
perform or direct selected scenes from a wide range of plays where the age,
gender and experience of the participants will neither affect the choice of role
they perform nor their approach to directing. Trying out ways to see how texts
can work in performance, provides the main focus of the sessions.

Most of us learnt to drive in our youth, and probably haven't had any further

ability to cope with modern day situations. Each month our talk covers a
different topic, with the same presentation given three times in the month.
Topics covered include night driving, winter driving, motorways, manoeuvres,
lone driving, grandparents children and distractions, technology and challenges.
