Me and Tom agreed to team up immediately as we both wanted to animate in 2D using flash, he also liked my idea and we enjoyed working together the last time. As for Simon he didn’t have much choice as most of the class wanted to do a 2D animation and Simon prefers 3D, I approached him as I and suggested we collaborate our 2D characters with a 3D environment, we all agreed on this idea and arranged to have a group meeting every Friday. In our first meeting we all came up with the idea that the show could be set in biblical times in the year 1 and it would be called the Jeremiah Kyle show. I came up with the first character designs for the second week and I got feedback from the rest of the group, we decided to make Mary and Joseph’s outfits more modern and stereotypical of their personalities to add comedic effect, e.g. give Mary gold hoop earrings. Tom came up with the first draft of the script and we all added ideas for jokes and over time Tom came up with the locust ending, which we all liked. By the third week we had the final character designs, script and a basic environment in Maya. Simon and Tom both had access to a recording studio, so they both did half the voices for the characters while I did the final storyboard ready for the animatic, the story board took me longer than I expected so I didn’t manage to get it up the quality I had planned, but it was completed on time. Although our Animatic was quite slow and the timings were not perfected it still got a generally positive reaction in the presentation. After the presentation Tom recreated all of my character designs in flash and made them all puppets. This took about 2 weeks, Meanwhile Tom had sent me a tutorial and one of the completed puppets to practice with.

Once all of the puppets were completed me and Tom met and he taught me all the basics, I made a test animation and although I was quite slow I got the hang of it.

We then split the animation between us and began working on it, when I worked at home, sometimes I struggled with the animating and so I would call Tom on skype and he would talk me through it which was extremely helpful.

Towards the end Tom was still much more efficient at animating the puppets so I made the audience and animated the 2D fire while Tom finished off the rest.

We sent off the animation to Simon on the 20th as we had previously planned and Simon did the final editing and uploaded it the same day.

I think we worked very well together, despite my brief absence due to personal reasons they stayed on track and continued producing the work to a great standard.

I am very happy with the final animation and it went just as we had planned and everything was produced on time.
