ABOUT ENGIE
Global company, ENGIE, develops its businesses (power, natural gas, energy services) around a model based on responsible growth to take on the major challenges of energy’s transition to a low-carbon economy: access to sustainable energy, climate-change mitigation and adaptation and the rational use of resources.
The Group provides individuals, cities and businesses with highly efficient and innovative solutions largely based on its expertise in four key sectors: renewable energy, energy efficiency, liquefied natural gas and digital technology.

ENGIE employs over 160,000 people worldwide in over 70 countries and achieved revenues of EUR 60.6 billion in 2018. The Group is listed on the Paris and Brussels stock exchanges (ENGI) and is represented in the main international indices: CAC 40, BEL 20, DJ euro Stoxx 50, Euronext 100, FTSE Europtop 100, MSCI Europe, DJSI World, DJSI Europe and Euronext Vigeo (Eurozone 120, Europe 120 and France 20).
ENGIE IN AFRICA
In Africa, ENGIE manages the development and operation of thermal power and renewable energy assets in several countries. It is a first-mover in independent power generation in South Africa and built one of the largest wind farms in Africa. Whether in the engineering, consulting, facility management or energy efficiency services field, ENGIE has built a solid reputation over the last 50 years.
Group Company Profile | Page 03
The Group is now committed to contribute to Africa’s sustainable growth by developing projects in gas infrastructure, centralized and decentralized power production, electricity and gas distribution as well as energy services and industrial energy engineering.
ENGIE DISTRICT HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS
ENGIE operates 320 District Cooling and Heating Systems around the world in response to the long-term comfort needs (heating and air-conditioning) of both public and private sectors, at the same time as protecting the environment. As European market leader for three decades, the Group continues to expand its presence in Asia, the Middle East, North America and Africa. Its equity stake in Tabreed, a major player in the Gulf state urban climate control systems market, establishes ENGIE as the world’s largest independent provider of urban cooling networks.
Providing comfort with space heating or conditioned air to everyone in commercial offices, community housing projects, industrial buildings and public facilities, at the same time as cutting CO2 emissions... That’s the mission of the urban heating and cooling networks designed, built and operated by ENGIE.
Needs differ from place to place, our capability and expertise contribute to delivering solutions tailored to local needs. Decentralized generation that blends into the urban landscape and incorporates energy from renewable sources, including biomass, geothermal, waste industrial heat reclamation, etc.
The sea, rivers and lakes can also be used as sources of fresh and cooling water, and therefore contribute to cooling service-sector and public buildings. ENGIE’s goal is to increase, from 2018, the contribution of renewables to 50 % in all its European urban networks onwards.

BOOT
ENGIE has introduced the BOOT (Build, Own, Operate and Transfer) concept into Southern Africa. BOOT is especially attractive to clients who require the key services within their building to operate without having to be technically involved in the day to day operating of their building. With BOOT, we can provide the full MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) scope of works service to the client.
The BOOT solution is successfully implemented across the globe whereby ENGIE finance a construction project, install all building services and utilities and manage the building for a period of time before transferring it to the owners. The general period is 10 to 15 years; however, this can be customized to suit the payback. BOOT has been widely successful in Hospital, Museum and Commercial Building projects in Europe, USA, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, China and Singapore.

The Technology and Communication Centre is located in Johannesburg, South Africa. From here, all critical buildings and fleets are monitored 24/7, giving customers peace of mind in knowing that any critical areas and equipment are always monitored.
Field Technicians make use of tablets to log maintenance report cards remotely, enabling real-time data transfer between the site teams and the Technology and Communication Centre. A history is saved to the specific client profile and can be accessed at any point. This drastically reduces reporting time and the time it takes to order spare parts.
Group Company Profile | Page 11
TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION CENTRE
LEADERS IN TECHNOLOGY
The Technology and Communication Centre also controls the I-Tech technology employed by technical staff. Virtual Reality Spectacles are worn on-site by technicians that have a real-
time feed back to the Centre. This technology allows for specialised Engineers or Technicians stationed at the Centre to view any concerns on sites across the country, seeing on-screen what the actual wearer is seeing remotely.
As companies of ENGIE, Thermaire and Ampair can now provide clients with turnkey HVAC and MEP solutions, backed by extensive R&D.
Page 12 | Group Company Profile
We have an in-house Skills Development Centre at the Johannesburg premises, which offers theoretical and practical teaching and training by dedicated facilitators.
Our staff is continuously trained and up-skilled to ensure that they are fully equipped with the ability and knowledge to perform their duties in line with industry and client requirements.
This Centre is also MERSETA accredited and is open for external students who want to complete NQF level 2, 3 or 4 HVAC qualifications.
To address the shortage of skilled individuals within the local HVAC industry, the Centre also runs an annual Learnership Programme. On completion of the Learnership, each graduate will be offered a full-time position within the company.
