Dear Members,

I am so excited to be at Greystone! I recently told Mr. Sewell that this is the most energized I have been in over five years. What an incredible property with wonderful staff and members.

We are se ng new standards and goals for the staff, as well as empowering them to make good decisions to enhance your

experience. The level of service and consistency in all areas is being raised as quickly as possible through new and improved training.

Our Staff Mission is “To Create Posi ve Memorable Experiences for Members and their Guests during Each Visit to the Club.” Our Staff Vision is “To develop all Members into Raving Fans!”

Previously accepted expecta ons from the staff are changing and will con nue to change as I lead an effort to enhance and improve the culture of synergized excellence across all departments resul ng in one high performing team.

We are trying to develop a member experience that I call the “Snow Globe” effect! Deliver the professionalism of the Ritz Carlton, Magic of Disney and Warmth of Grandma’s House all shaken up like snow in a snow globe and it falls on Greystone. Some of you may be thinking, “This guy is hokey.” Well, if we can’t visualize what we want, it will be challenging for the staff to understand what and how to deliver a premier experience. This is the opportunity like no other for us to differen ate ourselves from all compe on and soar to the top in the area, region and south.

There will be con nual posi ve change that you will see on a daily basis. We will no longer se le for mediocrity in anything we do.

More important than anything I have said, will be that I want you to enjoy your club like a sanctuary from the outside world. This is supposed to be like camp for all ages…Have Fun!

I am looking forward to ge ng to know each you.

Warmest Regards,

David W. Porter, CCM General Manager [email protected] | (205) 986‐5148

What is GIFTING? Gi ing is a value added benefit for Equity Members who wish to give the “gi ” of membership. Regular Members with redemp on privileges may gi an Associate Membership to a prospec ve new member.

FAMILY GIFTING: A Regular Member with redemp on privileges may “gi ” to a family member. NON‐FAMILY GIFTING: A Regular Member with redemp on privileges may also “gi ” an Associate Membership to an individual with whom a Member has a close business or other personal rela onship. Dear Members,

This is absolutely my favorite me of the year! I love flip‐flops (not freezing temps) and I love ge ng to be your Aqua cs Director! Please help me in making your club’s pools the best they can be by contribu ng to the following:

1. We reached 11,572 visits in 2014. Let’s get to 12,000 this summer! With the Family Pool open for 97 days and the Adult Pool open for 147 days, surely we can do it! And yes, you read that right, the Adult Pool will be open from May 9th un l October 2nd for those who have signed the 2015 Waiver of Liability.

2. We had 91 swimmers on the Gators Team in 2014. I have no doubt that you’ll help me recruit and get the team to over 100. It’s definitely “the more, the merrier” on this team plus there are no “benchwarmers” in swimming!

3. Last but not least, we haven’t set a record # of visits on a holiday since 2012 which was 364. I know we can do be er than that but I also know that several adult members couldn’t find a lounge chair last year on each of the holidays. That is why we’re asking that lounge chairs be reserved for those over the age of 12. We hope you’ll comply so that more adult members can u lize the pools on these wonderfully busy days. Also, the decks will NOT open un l 10am sharp and you are more than welcome to bring your own personal lounge chair. Please do not a empt early entry to “save lounge chairs.”

Also, don’t forget to get your 2015 ThermoServ Pool Mug! FREE refills on tea and so drinks ALL summer! At $24.99 plus tax & gratuity, it pays for itself a er you’ve go en just 2 drinks a week for 6 weeks! Please note that due to the nature of business at the Pools that we only give free refills in the 2015 Pool Mug. The Mug is only valid at the Pool Grill.

Looking forward to my tenth summer as your Aqua Girl,

Aqua cs Director [email protected] | (205) 776‐3195

Dear Members,

How exci ng is this me of the year? The Masters, the fresh crisp days of late spring with a hint of rain

sprinkled in there. Well, maybe not just a hint, but for all of you straight drivers of the ball out there, that long rough should be helping you some. We have missed out on some rounds of golf with all the rain this spring, but I have to take my hat off to Jason Miller and his course crew for the outstanding job that they did for the Women’s SEC Championship and the Member Guest. To get the courses in shape for these events was something just short of spectacular. Since we’re talking Majors I thought I would get you some dates for the 2015 calendar that you don’t want to miss.

Major events at “the Stone”: Junior Member Guest on May 9 Tillie Bailey Memorial Invita onal (suppor ng fight against Ovarian

Cancer) on May 28‐29 The Men’s Match Play Championship (the first 64 registered are in) on June 6‐7 Men’s Member‐Member on July 11‐12 Men’s & Sr. Club Championships will be hosted August 21‐23 (Grey Cup Qualifier #1) Ladies Club Championship October 1‐2 Grey Cup Championship October 17‐18

This should give you a good start toward planning your event calendar for this year. Please make plans to join us! Since everything isn’t about Championships, I thought I would also men on these special events that will be here soon...

Couples Golf May 8 Founders (online registra on open) Titleist Fi ng Day May 9 at Legacy Regions Tradi on May 14‐ 17 Nike Demo Day May 23 at Founders Parent/Child Tournament May 31 at Legacy

Dear Members,

The 2015 golf season is officially here!

The new Greystone Performance Center (GPC) has now been opera onal for a few months receiving rave reviews from everyone that comes through the center. We’re extremely proud of the facility and the instruc onal

programs we are now able to offer you the membership and your guests.

While the facility at Legacy offers a mul tude of performance instruc onal programs we felt it important to complement them at Founders with some tradi onal teaching programs that were readily accessible and FREE to you the members. From May 1st onwards on the days that Legacy is closed, Wednesdays & Thursdays we will begin offering FREE drop‐in clinics at Founders to help improve your game! You simply have to show up with your clubs and be ready to learn.

On Wednesdays, we will offer a 90‐minute workshop which will cover a different aspect of the game each week. We will also take requests via email for areas of the game you want to see us specifically teach each week. Thursdays will become known for the Thursday Tune‐Up Clinic which will be a 90‐minute range session focusing on full swing development. These programs are to be complemented with 30‐minute Tune‐Up lessons at Founders available by appointment from the professional staff. Our Junior Velocity, Smash and Elite Development programs, and Men’s Biggest Losers will con nue to meet at the GPC and grow monthly. AimPoint Express clinics prove very useful to those who want to make more pu s, so please see the weekly E‐News for the next clinic at Founders or Legacy. Individual Aimpoint Express clinics are also available by appointment.

We’re excited to announce that the GPC now also hosts a Sco y Cameron Showcase Studio. There is only one facility selected to receive this designa on in each state so we’re delighted that the Blackburn Golf Academy at the GPC was chosen. We will carry an extended line of Sco y Cameron Pu ers and offer custom fi ngs. U lizing the SAM Pu lab and high speed video we can find the perfect Cameron pu er for you. This will be a unique experience and the only opportunity in the state to try the full line of Cameron pu ers and some showcase only models. Fi ng appointments will begin in mid‐May when we look forward to helping you roll your rock be er!

Please feel free to come and visit the GPC any me to observe a lesson from the comfort of the Cameron Studio in our lounge or to just hang out, chat about your game and watch some golf with friends.

See you soon,

How to Maximize Driving Distance

We have yet to fit a single player since star ng the Lab who doesn’t want to gain a li le distance on their driver. In the age of launch monitors and 3D mo on analysis so ware, and all of the different technologies available, quite a bit of research has been conducted into the ballis cs of the ball flight. Many of you are familiar, we are sure, with the terms “Launch Angle,” “Spin rate” and “ball speed.” It’s difficult to watch a PGA Tour event these days without hearing at least one of these terms in the telecast. Some players go to tremendous lengths to try to op mize these factors according to the most efficient ball flight.

So the ques on is, how do we maximize driving distance according to these ball flight principles? Of course, a emp ng to change these condi ons, requires a player to change their mechanics if we are talking about launching a ball higher, or spinning it in a different magnitude or direc on. However, the fact is, most players, when focusing on “Launch angle” or “Spin Rate” are forge ng about the MOST important ballis cs factor…. BALL SPEED. Ball Speed is the speed of the golf ball as it flies off the face of the club a er contact. Ball Speed is a deriva ve of how fast you swing, with how solid the shot is struck in the sweet spot. Some Launch Monitors use a factor called “Smash Factor” which measures the ra o of ball speed to the club head speed at the point of impact. This is an index of how solidly the shot was struck. When looking at all of the long drivers out on the PGA Tour, some of them may have different launch angles. Bubba Watsons is 17* while Dus n Johnson’s is 8* (if they use the same 9* driver). Bubba’s spin rates can vary quite a bit depending on what kind of shot he is a emp ng to hit, and Dus n produces spin rates on the higher end of the spectrum. Both hit it 340 yards and both have the same ball speed of 181 MPH.

So the conclusion here is if you want to maximize your driving distance, think about how to increase your clubhead speed AND make sure you hit it in the middle of the club. IF you are not doing those two things first, you are missing out on the most important part of hi ng it far!

Core Training Reality Check

Bus ng these myths is the first step toward rec fying effec ve abdominal training. In many gyms, "more" always cons tutes be er. While more can some mes be good in training, more for the core is usually a misguided goal.

Myth #1: Do 1,000 sit‐ups a day: Herschel Walker would knock out anywhere from 2000‐5000 sit‐ups a day. The type of volume he put through his core on a daily basis was pre y insane. For the rest of us, this type of ab training causes sore lower backs, bad posture, and surgical‐level abdominal soreness that just doesn't translate into strong, visually appealing abs. Try this instead: U lize a variety of sets, reps, and intensity to train your abs like you would any other muscle group.

Myth #2: Hold a plank FOREVER! The longest plank hold on records is 4 hours and 26 minutes! While this feat was described as an impressive showing of "core strength," was it really? Probably not. This is more likely a precursor to chronic injuries and ligament trauma. Try this instead: You can do some isometric training, but be realis c. Hold a plank in different posi ons and for various mes

Myth #3: Core needs only endurance work: One of the most misguided myths of core training is the idea that the core must func on with ultra‐endurance capabili‐

es in order to be considered func onal. Training your core as endurance muscles not only is impeding func onal fitness, but also was ng me that would be be er invested in strength and stability.

Try this instead: Build strength in your core muscles like any other muscle; with proper progression and resistance training. Don’t be afraid to grab a heavier weight and do fewer reps training your abs.

Make Your Own Natural Detox Water You know water is important, but did you know it’s a key player in detoxifying your body? Water is needed to flush the toxins out of the body, preven ng them from being reabsorbed back into the bloodstream and stored in fat. Supercharge your water into a detoxify‐ing, cleansing, fat‐burning beverage with ingredients you already have in your fridge.

To make your own detox water, simply add any of the following natural detoxifiers to one to two liters of water. Let it sit overnight in the refrigerator to infuse the flavors and beneficial compounds into the water. Drink your detox water from a glass with ice throughout the following day.

Mr. Lo started this year off with a goal – to be in be er shape, physi‐cally and mentally, when he turns 50 first of 2016.

Mr. Lo stated, “I have always been ac ve, but also ate exactly what I wanted whenever I wanted it. I decide to change things. I met with Christy Thompson to enhance my workouts to include more core strengthening exercises, stretching, and yoga as well as ge ng advice on por on control and healthy ea ng.” He totally understood what it was going to take for him to achieve his goals.

In late November, he started add‐ing addi onal core and stretching exercises to his workout regimen and controlling the amount he consumed by ea ng 25% or so less.

Since that me he has lost 25 pounds, has less back pain, and is already feeling be er than he did at 40. He recently started ea ng more fish, vegetables, and fruits.

“My goal weight was under 200 which I hit on April 15th. Now it is about maintaining good health and ea ng habits as well as being in the best physical condi on possible for the rest of my life,” says Mr. Lo . What a difference 4 months has made to his life!

Congratula ons and cheers to keeping it off!
