Gresford Public School Newsletter Term 4 Week 5 November 9th, 2017 4938 9304 www.gresford-p.schools.nsw.edu.au Well done to all students who attended the country dance last weekend and impressed the community with some expert line dancing. All that practice paid off. Kaitlin Horn has again been an outstanding ambassador for the school in winning the Dungog Rotary prize for public speaking. Kaitlin entertained the school at Fridays assembly with her prize- winning speech and presented a cheque for $200 to the school. Well done and many thanks Kaitlin. Yesterday was the final session for our transition to school program called Smart Starters. This program has been delivered by our Instructional Leader, Mrs. Jarlett as part of the Early Action for Success Program and feedback from parents and Mrs. Jarlett has been very positive. We look forward to welcoming 2018 Kinders and their parents to Orientation over the next 3 Wednesdays. Sport has been a fun and fit time for all classes with great coaching from the Maitland Mustangs. Shooting baskets has become a popular play activity on the hard court. Our cricketers have been enjoying their inter school games and came close to beating Clarence Town who were last years finalists in the Reg Kelly Shield. Keep up the good work! A reminder to families about the Remembrance Day service at the cenotaph this Saturday at 10.30am. We hope to see as many children as possible attending in school uniform. A wreath will be laid from the school and Kaitlin will outline Principals message the schools involvement in the Anzac Soil Collection Project. We would remind families of our request for flowers and greenery to be brought to school on Friday for our wreaths to be made. Kind regards, Pauline Lest we ForgetThrough the current in depth analysis of our 2015-2017 plan, we are starting to see definite directions for our school to focus on over the next 3 years. The teachers will be spending a planning day in 2 week s time to build the plan and put it into a time frame so we are ready from Day 1 next year to begin another phase of educational delivery. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to give us information from the communitys perspective. School Planning Snippets Our new Chickens Photos courtesy by class photographer Bella Sellens

Cricket

A fantastic game of cricket last week with Gresford just falling short in the run chase. A great bowling effort from all bowlers but particularly Jack Hill and Dan Craig to keep Clarro to just over 100 runs.

Our batsmen took to the Clarro bowling as well with Will Mitchell almost reaching 30 runs and smacking many 4s. William Craig also had a very strong innings scoring 16 runs. Well played Gresford!

We had a visit today from Mrs Davies and her new son Van. It was lovely to

see them both.

Dungog Show 10th & 11th November

Dungog Shire Council has partnered with Ability Links NSW to provide Dungog Show 2017 with an EVENT TENT, busy events can often get overwhelming, sometimes you just need somewhere to take a time-out or seek some quiet space particularly if you have a disability or need.

The EVENT TENT is designed to be used to provide a free safe and supportive space for people to retreat to when they need some time away from the busyness and noise of the show. The tent contains smaller sensory tents with tools designed for children particularly those who have sensory processing disorders. The tent will cater for a broad cross section of people with disabilities, their families and carers, as well as older people or parents with prams. It will be operational throughout the 2 days of Dungog Show.
