The Memphis City Council approved $12.9 million for two new paving con-tracts. Please be on the lookout for streets near you that will soon be repaved in District 9. If you have any inquires on whether your neighboring streets will be repaved this year, click the link below. This year’s goal is 350 lane miles. Below, is also a glance of the forecasted repaving throughout the city.

Councilman Ford Canale sponsored an Honorary Street Name Change for the
late Reverend H. J. Thompson. Reverend H. J. Thompson served as the Pas-
tor of Oakville Missionary Baptist Church for over forty – three years. This
honorary street name change will be placed on Knight Road between Knight
Arnold Road and Chuck Avenue. At the July 16, 2019 City Council meeting
Reverend H. J. Thompson’s son, Sterling Thompson, Ms. Bobbie Mitchell,
Pastor John W Brown III and Oakville Missionary Baptist Church accepted
this honor on his behalf.
During the hot summers, the City of Mem-phis provides cooling centers for residents without sufficient air conditioning or electric-ity to seek shelter. For more information re-garding the location and transportation to the cooling centers, citizens should contact The Office of Emergency Management at 901-636-2525.
