At 1:00 pm in the library sitting area, children can gather to hear Santa read “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Children may then visit with Santa and have their photo taken. Parents who would like to take home a printed copy of their child’s photo may purchase one for $2.00. Then join us in the children’s room for a festive photo craft followed by light holiday refreshments. In addition to Santa’s visit, the Friends will be raffling off a variety of baskets on display in the library. Tickets are on sale now through December 12th. Winners will be drawn on December 12th at the event. Tickets are avail- able for $1.00 per ticket, $5.00 for 6 tickets, and $10.00 for 12 tickets. Stop by for a cup of cider and a holiday treat on the 12th to join the festivities! Raffle winners will be drawn at 2:00 pm. Star Wars Awaken the force at the library. Sunday, December 6th 2:00 pmRenaissance V Holiday Concert

Sunday, December 6th at 2:00 pm the Renaissance V Brass Quintet will be presenting Christmas and holi-day pieces in the library Recital Room. The group consists instrumentally of two trumpets, tuba, French horn and trombone. All members of the quintet are music educators and professional musicians. The music being performed is a variety of many styles from Baroque and Renaissance to Ragtime, Marches and Swing, with everything in between including Contemporary and Sacred. Children’s Department NewsBedtime Story Time

Children ages 3-6 are invited to join us for a special evening story time. Children will hear stories and songs and make a fun craft! Bedtime story time will take place on Wednesday, December 16 at 6:30 PM. Registration, which begins December 1, can be done at the children’s desk or by phone at 949-3630 ext 2. Children may wear their pajamas!

Children’s BubbleDawen Cheng, age eleven, will display his dinosaur collection in the children’s room bubble. Dawen has loved dinosaurs since he was little. He especially loves giant reptiles and dragons.

Greenville LEGO Club @ the Li-brary. Come to the library on Saturday De-cember 19th from 11:00 – 12:30 to create and share your building skills with other kids who are crazy about LEGOS! This fun-filled drop in program (no registration required) is for children ages 4- 11 and their parent/caregiver.

Game DayEvery Friday is Game Day in the children’s room at the library from 2:30 – 4:30. There are many exciting and fun board games to play for chil-dren ages 4-10. Bring a friend or make a new one! This is a drop in program, no registra-tion is required

Book Discussion Group The Share – a - Story Book Discussion Group for 4th/5 graders and their caregiver. We meet once a month during the school year to discuss the same book we have all read that is chosen by the children’s librarian. Our next meeting is on Wednesday December 16 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. Please call the children’s room at 949-3630 x2 for more information. Come join in the fun!

Artist and teacher, Adele Karbowski, will teach an art class on Monday December 28 at 1:00 pm. This program is for chil-dren ages 6-10. Come to the library and create your very own masterpiece! Please call the library at 949-3630 x2 to register or drop by the children’s room to sign up.

Dave Marchetti will bring his animal and reptile program to the library on Tuesday December 29th at 11:00. This program is for children ages 4- 10 and their parent/caregivers.Learn about these amaz-ing creatures while enjoying a hands on experience! Please call 949- 3630 x2 to register for this program or drop by the children’s room to sign up.

School Vacation Fun

Awaken the Force at the LibraryCome one, come all to the library on Tuesday, December 15, at 4:00 pm to create a Star Wars craft, find your favorite chacter in a scavenger hunt, and enjoy tasty snacks. This program is for children ages 6 to 10. Please register by calling 949-3630, ext. 2 or by dropping by the Children’s Room.

Gaming in the Baker Room Some of our regulars in the Baker AfterSchool Center have been playing ROBLOX after their homework is finished. What is it? From ROBLOX.com, “ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop — where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn.” Choose an avatar, interact by chatting, playing games or creating projects. Stop by and join them. Of course they also play Minecraft on Fridays on our own server. We have created both a survival world and a creative world to play in and spend time in both.
