It has gone by very fast. As I watch all the pracces for closing services and graduaon, I see students that have grown not only in size but also in learning and spiritual desire. It does my heart warm to see this and reminds me again why we have the school we have. Blessings to all as you head into summer plans and acvies. For grades K–7, you hopefully see an envelope containing your childs achievement test results. Those are being sent home via backpacktoday. Please ask your child about it when they come home. As you look at the results, please keep in mind that these scores are a snapshot of your childs abilies as they took the test in April. They are not the end-all of the abilies that your child possesses. Use them in conjuncon with their daily work, tests, quizzes and quarterly report cards. HESSE Aſter 41 years of service to God in the classrooms at Green Park, we will be celebrang the rerement of Mr. Hesse on June 10 from 2pm – 5pm at Green Park, in the gymnasium. Open house style. We hope you can join us! CONGRATULATIONS ANNA KUSCHEL We are pleased to announce that Anna Kuschel will be receiving this years Arthur and Ruby Baisch Memorial Music Scholarship from Lutheran South. This scholarship is a $500 renewable award for excellence in instrumental music. We also congratulate Anna, along with Addie Cunningham, for their recent selecon into the Lutheran High School South Wind Symphony as incoming freshmen. GOLF SCRAMBLE—FALL 2018—PLANNING NOW Do you have any connections to a Sams Club or Costco or a beverage/snack distributor? It should be the perfect weather for geng some cool frozen yogurt on a May evening! We welcome the new PTO Board: President-Heather McCarty; Vice President- Michelle Schade; Secretary-Tonya Pacino; Treasurer-Mike Bodnar; Fundraising- Heather Prewi. They are looking forward to the upcoming events for 2018-19! BOX TOP COLLECTION RESULTS ARE IN Our Box top collection was a great success! The winning classroom was Sixth Grade with a total of 1,713 box tops! Second place classroom was 1st grade with 1,110. Total box tops collected by all of the classes was 5,527, meaning Green Park will receive $552.70! Thanks so much for helping out Green Park in this way! GREEN PARK PROFESSIONAL DATABASE Green Park families – Laura Reis is working to put together a Professional Database for Green Park families to ulize for their personal use. This can be a tool our families can use as a resource for their needs. If you have a business you would like to include, feel free. THE WHOLE-BRAIN CHILD Did you know that when we undergo an experience-our brain becomes active, or fires? The brain has 100 billion neurons, which are also referred to as brain cells. Each of our neurons has 10,000 connections which are always changing. When neurons fire together they grow new connections between them. Over time, the connections that result from firing lead to this rewiring and change the brain. This means we arent held captive for the rest of our lives by the way our brain works at this moment. ST. LOUIS UNIVERSITY OFFERING READING PROGRAMS THIS SUMMER St. Louis University offers reading skills and speed reading programs for children and adults. Classes are offered this summer in Arnold, Chesterfield, and Creve Coeur. Programs offered are for 4-year-olds and entering Kindergarteners, students entering 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th-8th grade, 9th-11th grade, and adults or entering 12th graders and college students. These popular summer classes are designed and taught by instructors from the Institute of Reading Development. LUTHERAN SOUTH WELCOMES NEW HEAD FOOTBALL COACH Lutheran South welcomes Coach Derrick Colquitt as its new Head Football Coach! Coach Colquitt led the Lancer offense last year to a state Final Four appearance. He is a graduate of University City High School and Lindenwood University, where he played football for three years. Prior to joining Lutheran South, Colquitt held various assistant coaching positions at Normandy High School, McCluer North, Chaminade, Washington University, and most recently University City High School. Join Coach Colquitt for South's Football Camp June 4 - 7 from 9am to 11am at Lutheran South. This is a non-contact camp designed to improve fundamental skills to become better football players. Dierbergs and Shop ‘n Save gift cards are available for purchase in the school office. The cards can be purchased in denominations of $25 or $100. These cards are available all summer long from the office.

CHAPEL OFFERINGS TO BENEFIT FEED MY PEOPLE Our chapel offerings for the rest of the year will be going to Feed My People. Feed My People was started in 1982 as a way to help people in the South County area needing food. Today, Feed My People has over 25 programs, including a Thrift Store at each location as primarily a service to their clients, but also open to the public. This organization serves 16 different zip codes in the St. Louis area and helps over 80,000 people each year. Feed My People is supported by donations from individuals, schools, churches, businesses, foundations and community groups. Please help us support their service to our community!

PEACE LUTHERAN OFFERING SUMMER CAMP The Peace Early Childhood Department is again offering a Summer Camp for kids ages 5 - 12. Monday through Friday, from 6:00am-6:00pm. CHRIST MEMORIAL PRODUCTIONS TO OFFER SUMMER THEATER CAMP Christ Memorial Productions will offer a Summer Theater Camp for ages 6 to 12, July 16 – 20, 9:00 a.m. to Noon. GOLF PROGRAM FOR LUTHERAN GRADE SCHOOLS TO BEGIN A new Golf Program is being developed for Lutheran Grade Schools. Clinic Days, Practice Rounds, and a Tournament will be held over the summer at Sunset Hills Golf Course. A golf camp will be held from May 29—June 1 at Lutheran South. GRASP SUMMER PROGRAM GRASP is a nine week (optional) correspondence program for grades K-8 that helps students maintain their reading and math skills over the summer months. The cost for one subject is $38 and two subjects is $63. For more information on this beneficial program, and to register independently, please visit their website at www.grps.org/grasp.

STUDENT PHYSICALS NEEDED As summer quickly approaches, please remember to schedule your physical appointments for the new school year. All kindergarten, 4th and 7th grade, and new students registered for the 2018-2019 school year must have a physical on file before the first day of school. This is a comprehensive physical which includes an updated vaccination history. Physicals are due to the school office by August 15, 2018.

Students participating in Green Park Athletics next year will need an Athletic Permission and Physical form on file before they can begin practice. Both physical forms are available to download on our school website under the “Admissions” tab, or by logging into your TADS account.
