Green Olympics

Green Olympics is one of the three main concepts of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

The goal of Green Olympics is to organize the Olympic Games with the concept of sustainable development of protecting the environment, resources and ecological balance.

Disciplines

Dressage Dressage is often called "equestrian ballet".

Jumping Jumping requires the horse to jump and clear a series of obstacles, aiming for minimum penalties incurred and completion within a set time.

Eventing

Eventing comprises Dressage,

Cross-Country and Jumping,

with the winners decided on

minimum total penalties.

Recycling and Reuse

of Environmentally-friendly Materials

During construction of the Equestrian venues, environmentally-friendly and recycled materials have been used wherever possible. Engineered wood made from bamboo has been used in the internal horse stalls. Recycled tyres have been used for internal walkways in the stable complex. At the Beas River venue, recycled

telegraph poles have been used for some of the jumps on the Cross-Country course.

Green Suggestions: (Green Awareness)

People are encouraged to put plastic bottles into the Reverse Vending Machines (They can get a pen as reward).

People can use washable utensils such as spoons, chopsticks and forks in the canteen.

People are encouraged to bring their own bags, no plastic bags would be provided in the equestrian venues.

People who co-operate can get a souvenir!

Conclusion

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games are coming! We all are ready! Our suggestions are excellent and we want them to become true. We think everyone in Hong Kong will be cheerful in August.
