Student Name: Kia Ora Dear Parents and Caregivers WELCOME - to our latest 5 year olds MacKenzie Innes and Lakai Aitkenhead-Moore. I am sure that you will enjoy your me at Green Island School. OPEN AFTERNOON to celebrate and showcase some of the many wonderful things happening at our school, will be held this coming Friday aſternoon, 14 th August. The aſternoon will start off with a performance from our Kapa Haka Group in the Hall at 1:45pm so please be seated in plenty of me to see. Guides will then escort you around the school to see our classrooms in acon. The aſternoon will conclude around 2:50pm. FIREWOOD RAFFLE cards (sold or unsold) and money, need to be returned to the Office by this Thursday please. We thank you so much for this. If you wish to sell another card, then please just contact Kellie in the Office. We desperately need more offers of helpers to sell extra cards at Moyles on Friday 14 th August and Saturday 15 th August. It really is a lot of fun and the me passes quite quickly. CHEESEROLL order forms are now circulang around our school families. As all money raised goes towards important school projects/programmes like swimming, maths and reading resources, musical instruments, we kindly ask that all families who put in an order form, also turn up to help make them on Sunday 30 th August. Many hands do make light work and all of our children benefit from the funds raised. INTERVIEWS – for Parents/Teachers/Pupils last week, went well. Thank you so much for aending and engaging with the teachers. We have a lot of learning to complete this year and are excited to be doing this all together. DAFFODIL DAY is coming up soon. As a lead up to this special week, the Moray Place ANZ Bank has asked our children to do some artwork to be put on display in their Branch. A special guest that week will be former NZ Prime Minister, Sir John Key. Many thanks to all children who created the wonderful artworks for this special occasion. FOTS MEETING tomorrow aſternoon, Tuesday 11 th August at the earlier me of 3:15pm in the Staffroom. All welcome. HOCKEY DRAW – Wed 12 August Green Scks vs East Taieri Super Scks 4:20pm LF1 (LF = Lions Foundaon) PLAYER OF THE DAY Hockey – 5 Aug – Lily Swensen-Mclean. Well Done. CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Bailey Chapman who won 1st Place overall in the Dunedin Gymnascs Academy compeon, last weekend. She was placed 1st in the Floor and Bar Secons and 2 nd in the Beam and Vault, earning her the overall Champion Award. Well done Bailey! PLAY IS THE WAY The main tool for raising children is common sense. Be wary of those who would make a science of common sense. REMINDERS Lunchme acvies include; Passive Play on Mondays, Reading Club on Wednesdays and Lego Club on Fridays. Guitar and Marimba lessons are held on various other days too. SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY will be held next Monday 17 th August (p/d Tuesday 18 th August) at 1:30pm. The Y7+8s will be running first followed by Year 0+1, Year 6, Year 2, Year 5, Year 3 and Year 4 on the boom field. All welcome to come along and watch the children compete. The top qualifying children in the older age groups, will get to aend the Greater Green Island event to be held at Walton Park, Fairfield, on Friday 28 th August 2020, starng at 12:30pm. SWIMMING BAGS FOR SALE - $6.00 each. Good quality with a variety of colours. Samples are available in the office. All proceeds to FOTS.

CONCORD – Emerson Street Mural unveiling will be held this coming Friday afternoon, 14th August, at 3:30pm. You are all invited to this fun occasion.
